 | | "Country's Hottest New Duo" | Waycross is the distinct vocal and instrumental blend of Ted Moxley and Ben Stennis.
Ted Moxley was born and raised in Oklahoma City, OK, where he drew much of his early musical influence from artists such as Don Williams, Tom T. Hall, and The Highway Men. Ted began singing in talent shows when he was 15 years old and at age eighteen he picked up the guitar and found his own unique sound through the writing of original lyrics and music. "I knew that I wanted to be a singer but it wasnt until after I wrote that first song that I felt like music was my true calling."
After high school Ted enlisted into the United States Air Force where, in his off duty time, he focused on perfecting his craft and honing his performance skills. Ted played the local bar scene to packed houses and even got the honor of performing for thousands of his fellow troops during a tour in Saudi Arabia. When his service ended, Ted relocated to Las Vegas, Nevada where he played his music anywhere from coffee houses and book stores to casino lounges and bars. It was after this time in Las Vegas that Ted realized his dreams were in Music City, so he saved up enough money, and in December 1999 made the move to Nashville.
Born in Longview, Texas and raised in Augusta, Georgia, Ben Stennis fell in love with country music at an early age but didnt realize that being a singer/songwriter was his hearts desire until his freshman year of college. "I borrowed one of my buddies guitars, got a guitar chord book, and sat for hours watching CMT and GAC learning how to play my favorite country songs."
Within four months of picking up the guitar Ben began writing songs and started a guitar/banjo harmony group with a couple friends. For the next four years they toured the college bar circuit playing their brand of country, bluegrass, and southern rock.
