Concepcion has been keeping her vigil for 25 years 24/7. When I first saw her, I thought she looked demented, until I listened to what she had to say. more...It dawned on me that what she is protesting and standing against is infinitely much more insane than she could ever look.
I walked away, awed by her commitment, feeling like I just met a modern day heroic prophet of doom.

You don't want to act, or even talk, alone...you don't want to 'go out of your way to make trouble.' "That's the difficulty. The forms are all there, all untouched, all reassuring, the houses, the shops, the jobs, the mealtimes, the visits, the concerts, the cinema, the holidays. But the spirit, which you never noticed because you made the lifelong mistake of identifying it with the forms, is changed. Now you live in a world of hate and fear, and the people who hate and fear do not even know it themselves, when everyone is transformed, no one is transformed.

The day before this gathering, half a million people from around the world marched on Washington DC to protest the war. The mainstream news media somehow more...portrayed this Pro-War Rally as an equal voice of opposition even though there were only around two hundred war supporters in attendance.
The next day, three hundred and seventy eight protesters volunteered to get arrested in a peaceful civil disobedience action. Almost twice the amount of people willingly went to jail to voice their opposition to the war than there were here at this rally to support it.
