dear rclark23, I wasn't aware of this protest because, like you said, it appears that none of the news stations covered much of this. All I know about big corporate power is what happened before Russia adopted Marxism and made it part of the communist more...way of life, and that is that most Americans were Marxists. They had adopted his theory that economic standards and the outside influences, ones like the industrialists had here, deprived people of basic needs: Thus, affecting the psychological problems of everyone, causing depression, oppression, deviant behavior, crime, etc At the same time, of course big business didn't want unions either. So, when unions were finally allowed to form, government and industrialists weren't very happy about it. They couldn't make such high profits. Now I think that the government wanted big companies to leave the United States specifically to break up the large unions they are afraid of. One of my best friends' dad was Eastern Airlines Union Leader, and he had a direct line to the President's office. That was before American companies started opening plants in other countries. Nobody in govt cObama is doing the right think by not accepting donations -- which were supposed to be limited to between 250 and 2,500 dollars per person. Big business got around that by donating for all of their employees ... I guess. Well, I don't know much about Jon Paul, but I know about Capitalism and American Democracy mostly from teaching American literatature. However, I've studied enough political science to know that the writers of The US Constitution stated that politicians were never supposed to get paid as elected officials holding an office that governs and protects constitutional rights because "it would lead to corruption," the kind that now makes bedfellows out of big business and law makers. So what happened? All politicians get paid huge salaries, even the ones who only work so many weeks out of the year, and the constitution is interpreted differently depending on how much money you have. Well, back to your march, I'm glad somebody is protesting something. These days, everyone wants to forget the 60's ever happened because somebody's kid might find out they tried drugs -- heaven forbid-- so what? We weren't afraid to protest, and kids are still using drugs and drinking -- it's just not so open. You know I wish people would protest the war now! OK. ...
