Except I can't find out how to split a clip......but I think it's a new paradigm and I have to "unlearn" more...

Wow they have certainly changed it! Looks more like FC now, but easier LOL...

Been reading the comments.. Hmm doesnt sound good that they have removed some stuff! :-/

My gut tells me they want pure novices to use this and then move to Final Cut Express as they get more competent. That also tells me that they shot themselves in the foot by building too much functionality into iMovie '06. At least it didn't GET RID more...

My iMovie 6 has a lot of hidden features that were not readily apparent. Maybe iMovie 8 is like this with features that are not readily apparent?

Some people were complaining that you couldn't fade out sound clips, but maybe they are just expecting people to ship the iMovie out to Garageband for serious sound editing?

I thought that the Themes were a bit tiresome anyway, since there was such a more...

Actually yes - that's what you do I guess - magnify the video and drag thru it to select the piece you don't want and delete it. I need to investigate how to do colored backgrounds for titles, because I use them a lot and black backgrounds all the time more...

I had seen other people complaining about the same thing. I personally won't miss video effects, but I liked the "extract audio" feature occasionally, and I knew that they had dropped themes. Can you not do a select and "edit cut" to cut out little more...

also see my new video about this - very disappointing on further investigation. I am waiting to see what you think about it when you get yours. No Theming, no video effects, no timeline mode, no title backgrounds, no splitting clips to chop little bits more...

It' cool (I think).....but very, very different and it will take me some time to get used to it
