| Monday, December 31, 2007 at 9:29 AM | | Jag hittade ett intressant citat: "En sann soldat kämpar inte för att han hatar vad som står framför honom, utan för att han älskar vad som finns bakom honom" I don't know if I agree, but it's a nice thought. Anybody wants me to translate, just mail me. | |
| Monday, December 31, 2007 at 6:18 AM | | Ok, I have fixed my bicycle, my portable computer, but my desktop is still broken -has been since Christmas. It didn't even make six months, and I haven't been able to log on safely from any cafes. I lost a lot of footage, so I'll retake them again during the spring. I intend to show you parts of Tokyo, while vlogging, when my luck turns. I live a few blocks from the Prime Minister of Japan, so that might make things interesting. Catch'ya later folks. Thanks for the comments'n'all. Cheers! Happy more...New Year!

| Friday, September 14, 2007 at 4:48 AM | | Jus'droppin' by to resuscitate the carcass of my channel. I'll swing by a few times a month, if all goes well.
I see that others have taken refuge in YouTube. Ha. That's funny. I only go there 'cause they have Japanese language support, and LiveVideo has consistently ignored that. Too bad. All my English vlogs will go to LiveVideo and my Japanese ones will go to YouTube...more or less.
Ta ta everyone.

 | | | | King Corn - 1/4 22:45 Behind America’s dollar hamburgers and 72-ounce sodas is a key ingredient that quietly fuels our fast-food nation: corn. In KING CORN , recent college more...graduates Ian Cheney and Curt Ellis leave the east coast for rural Iowa, where they decide to grow an acre of the nation’s most powerful crop.
Alarmed by signs of America’s bulging waistlines, the filmmakers arrive in the Midwest enthusiastic about their new endeavor. For their farm-to-be, they choose a tiny town in Floyd, County, Iowa—a place that, coincidentally, both Ian and Curt’s great-grandfathers called home three generations ago. They lease an acre of land from a skeptical landlord, fill out a pile of paperwork to sign up for subsidies and discover the U.S. government will pay them 28 dollars for their acre. Ian and Curt start the spring by injecting ammonia fertilizer, which promises to increase crop production four-fold. Then it’s planting time.
With a rented high-tech tractor, they set 31,000 seeds in the ground in just 18 minutes. Their corn has also been genetically modified for another yield-increasing characteristic: herbicide resistance. When the seedlings sprout from Iowa’s black dirt, Ian and Curt apply a powerful herbicide to ensure that only their corn will thrive on their acre.
As Ian and Curt discover, almost everything Americans eat contains corn. High-fructose corn syrup, corn-fed meat, and corn-based processed foods are the staples of the modern diet. America’s record harvests of corn are supported by a government subsidy system that promotes corn production beyond all market demand. As Ian and Curt return to Iowa to watch their 10,000-pound harvest fill the combine’s hopper and make its way into America’s food, they realize their acre of land shouldn’t be planted in corn again—if they can help it. less Added: 3 days ago Channel: Drachnid Views: 49 Category: People |

| | | Train them for the future 02:17 France has taken an initiative to reduce truck-traffic and endorse train-traffic. China is discussing with Eu, of wether to build a railroad on the old more...Silk Road. Germany and other European countries are using public trams to haul containers through city traffic more efficiently than trucks. Energy efficiency. That is what it is all about. Who is to gain. Less traffic congestion, pollution, noise pollution, maintenance, wear and tear. Oh, and it's cheaper -especially for long distances. Oh, and it will be cheaper by each year, as trains run on electricity, which can be produced in various ways....oppose to air freight, and most trucks. Ships can take more, but take longer time. I guess I got a one-track mind. less Added: May 2, 08 Views: 18 Category: People |
| | Food waste in the UK -consider the Food Mileage 07:19 A handful of people in the UK, are living off of discarded food and such, without being poor or homeless. To prevent waste and to encourage others to more...do the same. In order to keep prices high, the food is disposed, and in extreme cases the disposed food is locked and protected. Yes -the waste is prevented from being used practically. The food is often still fresh and even hermetically sealed. Wanna help the poor and the starving? Then don't you dare discard any food that is still edible. Any food. Not even a grain of rice or a strip of french fries. It doesn't stop with you. Every food scrap has to be disposed, the vessels cleanied, the sanitation kept up, the municipal compost turned by machines or the landfill added by machines. Every drop of water matters. Every piece of food that adds to your life is to be eaten. We shall benefit from it all. less Added: May 2, 08 Views: 18 Category: People |
| | | The Meatrix 03:43 For anybody who still haven't seen the original production. Forgive the age of it. The sequals have been available on their web site for quite some time more...now. I tell people to avoid beef from the States( no offense), and eat meat from animals that eat grass and naturally growing plants. I didn't know that the US has been exporting grass for fodder and a lot of it goes to Japan. Cows eat grass -we don't. It's really that simple. When the US starts feeding cows grass universally and don't push spines and brains to other countries, then i might think about it. But then again, I have no need for beef at all these days. I become dull, my body odor worsens, it's expensive and it is the worst for the environment and cost efficiency. If I have to, I buy domestic and occasionally Australian( at resturants). less Added: May 2, 08 Views: 23 Category: People |
