Great Tutorial I have seen the Pink and Black one on Flickr. I have an idea for you. You should totally team up with other polymer clay artists who make video tutorials and put it all on one page, or website even.... That would be very interesting to

I love your videos. You talk slow enough to understand, but when you move your hands so much it makes the video hard to watch. They are not focused as they go across the screen....just wanted you to know. Thanks for taking the time to make the videos!

Thank you Cindy! And for the blurry hand feedback. Yeah, my webcam is not so great. It verges on sucking. :) I'll try to keep your feedback in mind for future videos!

That is so cool! And here I thought the mica shift was far more complicated. LOL
Marianne is right, you are a wonderful teacher! But I've got a tiny challenge for you! hehehehe Show how you make your holes without your beads going all wonky. LOL

Remind me in a week's time - I got hubby to make me special little tools for my beads. I'll make a quick vid for you.

Thanks Shannon!
LOL...bead holes. Those tricky little monsters. I have gone to drilling holes after they are baked. It's still frustrating b/c occasionally I drill crooked and it comes out the front (or back) of the bead. GRR!!
When poking holes in

the raw beads: try waiting several hours and letting the clay cool a bit. Less moosh. Also try starting really small...like a sewing needle or straight pin. Go in half way, then poke the other half of the hole from the opposite side. Then use a larger poking tool and repeat the same holes.
Did that make sense?

You have such a wonderful way of teaching! Even if I will never do this with my clays, I just had to keep watching! One little thing, though - you are so soft-spoken, I was glad I could connect my computer to the stereo and turn the volume way up! Hehe!

I was wondering - that whole thing of shaving off the ridges? Wouldn't it be easier to just not stamp so deep to start with?

Thank you for saying that, Marianne. :) Shaving off the ridges...I opted not to explain the WHY in that for shorter video length. Perhaps a bad choice. It really would have been useful info I guess. Woops. :)
Anyway, here's why deep stamping and

shaving off clay is important. The multiple runs thru the pasta machine lines up the shiny mica particles in the clay. Making an even smooth shiny surface. Stamping down into the clay dispurses some of the mica. Breaks up the shiny surface basically. Shaving off the top makes the surface smooth again, but with the image still in the clay. Optical illusion style! Actually, a shallow light stamping is harder to shave off. At least I think it is.
