A short video with a series of fights. Note: This was originally a sculpture project. Yep, sculpture. It was shot over 5 hours and editing took another more...6 hours over a period of 3 days. It was the first time I did linear editing. And I don't want to do linear editing with a project like this again.
The project is supposed to be self referential. This was originally called Fights on Video. It was a VHS tape with Fights on the label. And it was a series of fights on the tape. In the series of fights, it all have people watching the previous fight on tv before they battle. So that's how it all ties to together.
Like all my other art projects, there was a mixed reception by peers. Half hated it and don't think it's art. The other half likes it and thinks it's different. I usually get Bs because my teachers might not like it, but it's something new and different to them. And that's all that really matters. Of course, lots of my peers don't like anything I do. They think I'm mocking their art. But seriously, I was mocking their work. I guess they still hate that I brought in a gift wrapped box with poop inside as a project in my first art year. And that I brought in a talking toilet with a tape recorder playing on the inside as another project for my sculpture class. Yeah, art students need sense of humor. Unfortunately, art materials are expensive, so they can't afford it. : ( less
