| | Friday, February 22, 2008 at 4:51 PM | | Here are a few quotes from the Republicans when President Clinton committed U.S. Troops into the former Yugoslavia to stop the genocide. BTW, not ONE U.S. Soldier was killed due to hostile actions, NOT ONE. Yet listen to these Un-American hypocrites bad mouthing President Clinton and yelling for impeachment.... 'President Clinton is once again releasing American military might on a foreign country with an ill-defined objective and no exit strategy. He has yet to tell the Congress how much this operation more...will cost. And he has not informed our nation's armed forces about how long they will be away from home. These strikes do not make for a sound foreign policy.'-Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA)....... 'No goal, no objective, not until we have those things and a compelling case is made, then I say, back out of it, because innocent people are going to die for nothing. That's why I'm against it.'-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/5/99..... 'American foreign policy is now one huge big mystery. Simply put, the administration is trying to lead the world with a feel-good foreign policy.'-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)..... 'If we are going to commit American troops, we must be certain they have a clear mission, an achievable goal and an exit strategy.-Karen Hughes, speaking on behalf of presidential candidate George W. Bush..... 'I had doubts about the bombing campaign from the beginning...I didn't think we had done enough in the diplomatic area.'-Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)..... 'You think Vietnam was bad? Vietnam is nothing next to Kosovo.'-Tony Snow, Fox News 3/24/99..... 'Well, I just think it's a bad idea. What's going to happen is they're going to be over there for 10, 15, maybe 20 years.'-Joe Scarborough (R-FL)..... 'I'm on the Senate Intelligence Committee, so you can trust me and believe me when I say we're running out of cruise missiles. I can't tell you exactly how many we have left, for security reasons, but we're almost out of cruise missiles.'-Senator Inhofe (R-OK)..... Movies and Shows: 'Explain to the mothers and fathers of American servicemen that may come home in body bags why their son or daughter have to give up their life?'-Sean Hannity, Fox News, 4/6/99..... 'Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is.'-Governor George W. Bush (R-TX)..... 'This is President Clinton's war, and when he falls flat on his face, that's his problem.'-Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN)..... 'You can support the troops but not the president.'-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)..... 'My job as majority leader is be supportive of our troops, try to have input as decisions are made and to look at those decisions after they're made ... not to march in lock step with everything the president decides to do.'-Senator Trent Lott (R-MS)..... 'For us to call this a victory and to commend the President of the United States as the Commander in Chief showing great leadership in Operation Allied Force is a farce.'-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)...... 'Bombing a sovereign nation for ill-defined reasons with vague objectives undermines the American stature in the world. The international respect and trust for America has diminished every time we casually let the bombs fly.'-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)..... 'Clinton's bombing campaign has caused all of these problems to explode.'-Representative Tom Delay (R-TX)..... 'America has no vital interest in whose flag flies over Kosovo's capital, and no right to attack and kill Serb soldiers fighting on their own soil to preserve the territorial integrity of their own country.'-Pat Buchanan (R)..... 'These international war criminals were led by Gen. Wesley Clark ...who clicked his shiny heels for the commander-in-grief, Bill Clinton.'-Michael Savage..... 'America has no vital interest in whose flag flies over Kosovo's capital, and no right to attack and kill Serb soldiers fighting on their own soil to preserve the territorial integrity of their own country.'-Pat less | |
| Tuesday, January 1, 2008 at 7:28 AM | | First off, happy 2008 and I think we can all agree that Neal Peart is the greatest living drummer in the solar system, that’s for damn sure! Although Keith Moon from ‘The Who’ or Jon Bonham from Led Zepplin would’ve given him a run for his money in his day. Check out (if you already haven’t) Gene Krupa from the WW2 big band swing era. The drums are so cool, I had to play the damn accordion from the age of 7 and be in every stupid religious school play and recital. I know, I know poor me. I was definitely more...an old school nerd and I still am I guess. Accordion=NOT cool, Drums, Guitar=VERY cool.
What do you make of Ron Paul on Meet the Press saying something like, ‘Abraham Lincoln should’ve solved the slavery issue by offering to buy the slaves and we could have avoided the Civil war’ ? I do appreciate Ron Paul’s honesty, and I agree with him about getting the F@#K out of Iraq. But, when it comes to some of Ron Paul’s domestic ideas….ya, not so much. Frankly. President Reagan, Bush 1, (even Clinton), and especially ‘W’ have attacked and reversed Franklin D, Roosevelt’s ‘New Deal’ programs that built the infrastructure of this country in the 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s.
I don’t know what my folks would have done without the Social Security that they relied on into their late 70’s. Medicare and Social Security were great systems, that is until the Social Security trust fund was raided by Reagan thru Bush jr. My point is that it was wrong to go to war with the ghost (or legacy) of FDR and it’s wrong to 2nd guess Abe Lincoln and his possibly averting the Civil war. In any event he South seceded from the Union and attacked the Union army forces Fort Sumpter, I mean come on Ron Paul! There is no dispute among even the Confederate historians as to ‘who started the civil war’ is there? And if there is, who cares, it’s all too hypothetical, none of us where there and can ever know what the ‘right thing’ that Lincoln shoulda, coulda, or would’ve done or not done.
So I can’t follow what Ron Paul is saying, he lost me on that one AND getting rid of the IRS without something at the ready to replace it. What, a GST (Government Sales Tax)? More user fees? That’s just taxes by another name isn’t it? We need to overhaul this G’Damned Government and audit THEM and find out where they spent all of our money, they’ve ripped us off for the past 7 years! The Government is completely broke and in debt because BushCo.Inc. has raided the treasury, maxxed-out the national credit card and is leaving that bill for our grand kids, but don’t get me started on Bush.
I live right near the Canadian border and I have Canadian friends who love their Universal healthcare and hate the GST(Government Sales Tax) with a white-hot fury. I respect the fact that Ron Paul is ready to straight up say, let’s abolish the IRS! I mean, he comes right out and says exactly what he’d do, if he were President even though that might be controversial and dangerous, he promotes honest open discussion of his agenda; and that’s refreshing after all of Bush's secrecy.
I’m all for trying on new and innovative ideas, but you can’t, we can’t, the U.S. can’t, just 'Abolish the IRS' with out something to replace it. The GST is regressive and oppressive, ask the Canadians. If we couldn’t fund the Government, even temporarily, we would become a global credit risk, we wouldn’t be able to even pay the interest on the outstanding treasury bonds and that could lead to a global recession or depression. How do you fund military operations right NOW, as we withdraw our troops from Iraq. I think we're going to have to ‘once and for all’ go back to Afghanistan (and Pakistan if necessary) to get Osama Bin Laden and the reemerging Al Qaeda network.
Finally, how crazy is it that we WILL let kids get married at 16 in some States (and 14? in others), but we WON’T allow them to vote until they’re 18 and they can’t drink until they’re 21? less
| Monday, December 24, 2007 at 12:03 AM | | I know it looks bad and there is reason to fear, but think about it this way, the U.S is a large and unwieldy country, it would be practically impossible for the fascists to completely thwart the will of the people. They may try to shut us down, that's a definite possibility, but there are plenty of patriots like me who aren't afraid. I've lived a great life and if I have to forfeit my life to help win back the rule of law and the protections of the Constitution, I'd gladly do it. It may never come more...down to that and this all may fritter out and be dealt with by the courts. One way or another this crisis too shall pass. The Constitution is a living, breathing document with self correcting mechanisms. Maybe this is a phase that we as Americans had to go through to know that fascism can happen anywhere and that we are not immune. Freedom will prevail, it may take a second revolution to make that happen, but this democracy will not go quietly into that good night. Not without a fight. less | |
| Friday, August 3, 2007 at 12:12 AM | | On Social Security and Universal Single Payer Healthcare for All Americans- I think that Social Security is a success, it has helped keep millions of people from falling through the cracks. A social safety net is a good thing as long as Republicans don’t get their hands on it. If not for the mismanagement of the Reagan and now the Bush administrations, stealing from the S.S. trust fund, it would be completely solvent today. I don’t know what my parents would have done without S.S. Illness and disease more...laid waste to their best laid plans and retirement funds.
This is what Al Gore was yapping on about in the 2000 debates with all that ‘lock-box’ talk. Social Security is a Democratic party authored, sponsored, and successfully administered program. We look up to FDR like a saint, no Dem has ever, or would ever endanger Social Security. Who stands to gain from that failure? There has been a quiet civil war going on between the GOP and the Dems over SS since it’s inception. The GOP hates the fact that the Government is seen as beneficial, by the people who put their trust in the system. The GOP wants a huge cut of that money just like they want to keep overcharging us Americans for prescription drugs.
We, the United States set up the Healthcare unions and governments of Japan and Western Europe under the Marshal plan after WW2, enabling them to have the wonderful systems that we see now with all their flaws and warts, but covering everyone. They are truly free of the worry that cancer could wipe out their entire families fortunes right after they close escrow on that new house. Most bankruptcies are from medical conditions that overwhelm someone when they weren’t expecting them. -Scott less
| Friday, August 3, 2007 at 12:10 AM | | On the Bush Crime Family- Our wounded troops need a fully funded Veteran’s Administration. The V.A. is a neglected and chronically under-funded program, and who exactly was under-funding them? Reagan started this slide and Bush Sr. didn’t do much better. Former Sen. Dole says that it’s a long-term problem but the situation at the VA improved under Clinton, until the Rape-publicans took back Congress in 94. Clinton proposed a $1.3 billion increase in veterans' benefits, of which $1 billion was directed more...to the VA health system to provide treatment for 43,000 more veterans
Under Clinton there was expanded VA access to quality health care, increased in funding for research and education benefits, the opening of 4 national cemeteries were included in Clinton’s proposed 1999 budget for the Department of the VA. The VA's 1999 budget provided authority of approximately $42.8 billion and outlays of $43.2 billion for the VA. It included funding for benefits and services for the country's more than 25 mill. veterans and approx. 44 mill. family members.
Bush cut the Veterans' Administration budget by $25 billion. The Bush administration plans to cut funding for veterans’ health care two years from now, even as badly wounded troops returning from Iraq could overwhelm the system. After an increase sought for next year, the Bush budget would turn current trends on their head. Even though the cost of providing medical care to veterans has been growing rapidly, by more than 10% in many years. They’re telling our Veterans to drop dead.
Bush’s White House budget documents assume consecutive cutbacks in 2009 and 2010 and a freeze thereafter. The House voted on the 04 budget and cut funding for veteran's health care and benefit programs by nearly $25 billion over the next 10 years. It narrowly passed by a vote of 215 to 212, and came just a day after Congress passed a resolution to "Support Our Troops." The GOP was screwing over the VA by starving it of funding, read, the Grover Norquist School of Government.
You can’t trust these Republicans. Back in the day when Barry Goldwater was around, maybe, but this GOP has been taken over by the extreme rightwing Fundamentalist ‘Jesus-is-returning-any-day-now’ end-timers. People like Rove, Cheney, Norquist, and Bush don’t believe in the US form of Government, they’re internationalists, they are using the Fundamentalist Christians to help them turn this country into something unrecognizable. They want to Corporatize everything and everyone.
Which Party just got caught in the largest corruption and bribery scandal that is continuing to unfold? That’s right, the Rape-publicans, remember Jack Abrahamoff, Randal Duke Cunningham, Congressman Bob Ney, Sen. Ted Stevens of Alasksa, the old guy who said, ‘the internet is a series of tubes’. They are so corrupt that Bush just had his lying Attorney General, Alberto Gonzales, go commit perjury before the Senate. They’ve OK’d torture, and called the Geneva Conventions ‘quaint’. Why do Republicans want to establish this ‘Unitary Executive’, do they want a Democrat President to have that much power? I wonder if Bush will even leave office in 2008, I don’t think he plans on ever stepping down. less

Capt. Travis Patriquin is more...the real unsung hero of Iraq and politicians like Bush and McCain never mention his contribution. I also talk about oil prices and the scam that is being perpetrated on the American public concerning the price of gasoline at the pump and the supposed need for more drilling leases. In my opinion, and the opinion of others, the oil market is being manipulated just like ENRON manipulated the California energy market. The call for new oil leases is just Presidential politics.

Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth was killed in Iraq on January 2, 2008, he was 24, a decorated soldier, and a qualified Weapon’s Master. Staff Sgt. Ryan Maseth wasn’t just an Army Ranger; he was an elite Green Beret. He not die from enemy fire, he wasn’t killed by some roadside IED, but from an improperly grounded water pump in shower room in his living quarters. Staff Sgt. Maseth’s barrack’s were built (and supposedly maintained) with a cost-plus contract awarded to Kellogg Brown and Root. As it turns out, KBR improperly installed the water pump which was never grounded, and then never inspected; even though the problem was reported numerous times by the troops and KBR billed the United States Taxpayers for inspecting, maintaining and fixing the electrical pump and systems in the barracks. Apparently KBR contractors did attempt a fix, they bypassed the circuit breaker. less Added: Mar 21, 08 Views: 74 Category: News |

Jeremiah Wright has made some inflammatory statements about the United States and how we deserved to get hit on 9/11, more...instead of “God Bless America”, he says “God Damn America”, etc. I really want Barack Obama to come out and explain this insanity and tell me if he believes this crap as well. I’m starting to wonder if Barack Obama believes in Evolution, if he believes in a woman’s right to choose. Barack Obama has a lot of explaining to do. less Added: Mar 14, 08 Views: 70 Category: News |
