Hey Van you know what you need..is some tic tacs in the tool box.

You can just wet sand (color sand) the area you painted to get the roughness out. Do a search on the subject. You should be able to find some good info on how to do it. It's pretty easy, but takes time and some attention to detail.
Good job on the fix

If you do it properly and then buff it out it should have a nice shine.
Try this link. it gives some instructions on wet sanding.

so the wet sand will not cause the paint to become milky in color?

Nice repair job.
Now when you say blend do you mean that the two colors are slightly different or is it just the feeling of the two paints? Cause one trick I've used before would be waxing the spot but there has got to be another way to blend it.

ah, ok. Ya that makes sense. When I spray painted my computer I had the same problem. But like what seekinsoul said multiple coats with sanding in between should make it come out shiny new. Remember to wax/buff it out at the end when dry.

the color matches perfectly. the problem is that if i tape it to get rid of the over spray then their is a sharp line where the new coat is substantially higher than the old one. since i did not tape it their is lots of over spray "mist" causing the

surface to be ruff or un-smooth.
any ideas?
