Description:
Nah, I don't need to do 40-100. My passing needs are generally covered in the 30-60 range. 4.25s btw. Sorry bout the black thing.

There really is no such thing as a traffic free road around here to do the roll on. Not unless you are willing to be up at some ridiculous hour like 0400. Even then traffic is starting to pick up again and there is never a shortage of cops.
I tried
more...
to do it anyway on Sunday. Unfortunately my camera shut off before I even got to the stretch of Interstate that is almost safe. You catch up with traffic pretty quickly doing over a ton.
Kind of a bummer not getting it recorded. Traffic doesn't get much lighter than a Sunday morning.

I'm just not a big fan of catching up with cars with a 30 plus MPH speed advantage. Drivers here are nuts.
Mind you, I have gone and split at 110 indicated. If a cop saw me do that I would probably be without a bike now.

If you can't grab 100 on the interstate, hang up the phone man. Even -I- grabbed 105 on the interstate outside Houston yesterday...

I think I'd better explain what this 40-100 thingy is all about, and shed a little light on my motives for doing it ...
The 40-100 benchmark is a little test I do with every bike I own, to see how much (or how little) low-to-mid grunt they have.
The
more...
reason it's not a 30-60 (or similar) is that I live in the UK, & the overtaking speed is a bit higher than in the US.
The last 3 bikes I did this test on all had a top speed of between 150-160mph, so 40 in 5th gear is a very uncomfortable place for them to be at. So why do it? Well the main reason is to show the difference in engine flexibility between a small 600cc inline four sports bike, and a large 1000cc V-twin sports bike, even though they have almost identical power to weight ratios.
It's still interesting to compare other types of bikes too, and this test has thrown up a few surprises!

oh, I know why you would want to do the test that way on a supersport like that. But a couple people had asked me to do it as well, and in all honesty, its completely pointless to run a run like that on a comparatively small vtwin that tops out around

100-110. Wasn't trying to say anything bad about what you were doing...

I thought the same thing. 40-100 isn't practical. I've never NEEDED to go 100 to pass. Typically I have to go about 85 since I'm always on the freeway. And that's like 75-85, which takes two seconds.

Yea, interstate cruising is really different. I avoid it at all costs for a lot of different reasons.

I was waiting for this fast forward but instead all I got was you still running your mouth. :P Love the roads you ride. Bad thing about where im at is just about every backroad runs right into a main shortly after starting. So they're not fun. Get me
more...
down on the coast or Nauvoo, AL and I can show ya some fun as hell twistie and hilly roads.

Yea, turns out I found a straight-ish spot a lot sooner than I expected to. I thought it was going to be another 20 minutes before I found one.

I'm not riding a savage. If you want current specs for one though, look up the Suzuki S40. I ride an M50, which is 50ci, or right at about 800. No, Vanzal, your 250 can't keep up. If you're curious, my M50 makes about 55-60hp. The only time a 250 can

really keep up is when the road gets rather tight.
