| Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 2:03 PM | | Hey Guys: WELCOME!!! "MPV" (Mandi Perkins' Videos) has now officially launched!!! This is the place to get exclusive video footage that you can't see anywhere else! We are very excited that Live Universe is giving us the opportunity to feature segments of our documentary, which depict all the different facets of recording a debut album. Some footage is humorous, some poignant and hopefully everything is entertaining. Thanks to Catie Laffoon (my documentary director and co-producer) Ari (my manager) and more...Warren Huart (My producer) plus an infinite cast of revolving characters, we have hours of endless fun for the whole family ... except for when its not for the whole family and then we give an "explicit language" sign!!
So please enjoy. And come back for more.
Everyday. You. Must. See. More. Mandi. Perkins.
Ok, so it’s not so subliminal. But then I’m not so sublime :)
Rock On!
mp
P.S. My debut album full of rock and all that great stuff “Bleeding the Line” will be here soon. There will be plenty of news about it in the next month. It’s almost as exciting as a “Police” reunion.
I said almost didn’t I!!! less | |

| | | | | | Some of the groups I found and loved this year: The Fray—Who hasn't heard of these guys on myspace?! I first heard "Vienna" on a friend's ipod in February more...and I was instantly hooked. The music is real, the vocals are raw, and the sentiments are unique. Plus the engineering and production are amazing ... (ok, I might be a little biased on the latter part…but its still true!)
One Republic- Before they completely started blowing up a few months ago, I heard "Sleep" on their myspace in January and the vocals totally ate me. Ryan Tedder (lead singer) is an extremely talented singer/songwriter ... and lucky for me, my producer (Warren Huart) is friends with him and introduced us. I ended up co-writing three songs with Ryan for my upcoming album. I even talked RT into singing with me on a track. Genius!
Death Cab for Cutie- I first heard "Soul Meets Body," but didn't pay too much attention to the brilliance that is DCFC until the awesome producer of One Republic's album, Greg Wells, sent me the lyrics for "Marching Bands of Manhattan," and I was totally hooked. After listening to the rest of DCFC's newest album "Plans" and then a bunch of their earlier stuff like "Transatlanticism" I realized that Ben Gibbard is one of the most poignant lyricists of our generation.
Seether—Wow. Get the album "One Cold Night." No effects, minimal instrumentation ... and all pure emotion. This music makes me believe.
Dixie Chicks- I can appreciate mostly all types of music, but I've never listened to much in the country genre before. After hearing "Im not ready to make nice," and then listening to songs like "The long way around," on their latest album, I figured out that the D chicks really do rock. They took the crap for speaking their minds and turned it into an opportunity to reach a brand new audience. I like listening to what they have to say.
Shiny Toy Guns - All purpose music from a group that completely blew up on myspace and then got a deal with Universal. Standout tracks are "Starts With One" and "You Are The One." Best getting ready to go out clubbing ... working out ... dancing…feel good music of the year.
Bloc Party- Simply one of the best drummers ever. Ever. Also all purpose. See description above. I saw them live at Coachella and it was a huge treat.
Nina Gordon- Her new album is beautiful. I love the imagery in her music.
Jack's Mannequin- Great music from someone so young that had to undergo tremendous obstacles in his personal life.
John Lennon- Ya, this is not new. of course I knew about The Beatles and Lennon ... but I never knew how brilliantly fragile John Lennon was until I started carefully listening to "Mother" on "Plastic Ono Band."
Snow Patrol- "Hands Open" one of my favorite songs of the year.
Counting Crows- "Colorblind" ... I rediscovered this song this year and I realized that this song, like all other CC songs, are timeless.
I could go on a bit more, but they're calling me in and I don't want to be late…uh again. Always late. Damn.
PLEASE ADD MORE!!
