I don't know why I can't reply to your certain comment anymore, but yeah - and I was thinking about it yesterday, about how we all want to share our most intimate of thoughts with people - and how we do that on the internet. And, I realized something.

That I assume everyone on the internet is a good person.
I was at McDonalds and this guy was sweeping a nugget around, and I laughed to myself, because for a second, it still looked delicious. Well this akward guy said, "What?" and I said "Oh nothing" yet I'm here telling the story - because I assume most people on the internet are good - or will understand why i giggled... Or maybe I can just ignore the fact that one of you thinks I'm a freak. In McDonalds, I wouldn't dare just spill my heart out, there were maybe 10 people there?
Plus I had first impressions of everyone! On the interwebs, well, that's a different story - interesting (rubs chin).

had of everyone.
If I had had a friend there, I would have obviously drawn attention to myself - I would have annonced it and everyone would have laughed, well except for a couple. But that's because they (my friends) have caught me at some point eying a nugget or the similar, and they are still my friends, reguardless. But, I was by myself, taking the risk everyone would have thought I was some freak!
But on the web, it seems your friend (a friend) is always around - amongst all the haters and all the negativity, there's always someone (almost a guarantee) that gets it, gets you.
Everyone's on the web! Hardly a rarity that everyone that crosses a vlog is going to tell you you are a freak, or not "get you".
Someone, on the internet, always gets you!

Haha!!! Giggled at the nugget thing.
I've been fascinated, from the start, at how this vlogging thing changes the nature of how we are in "public"- how it changes us in terms of the interplay between the private and the public life.

you said- about thinking something and sharing it with the assumption that others might find it of interest, or funny, or poignant, or whatever- just that we assume those who might watch will get it, and will "get" us.
And then to make that distinction of being IN the moment but seeing it as absurd to just call attention to yourself in the middle of McDonalds to share that thought...yeah, it's a divide, but one that I think if fascinating.
I'm actually working on a book of short stories based loosely on people I find through vlogging, to tell this kind of the story or to bring out these kinds of things that no one usually acknowledges or are even aware of. I see them as important because vlogging is changing the way we communicate beyond our immediate lives, and yet it impacts our immediate lives all the same. It changes a lot more than we think.
Gah!! I don't know if I'm making sense here, but I sure do appreciate your thoughts on it. It's already inspired me to make another Fear of Intimacy that has to do with intimacy on the Internet!! I can't believe I didn't even think of that!!

I know how you feel - half the time I just want to keep all my thoughts to myself, and I'm in awe of the other half wanting to be so public.
I think about it and it looks like we do all this "vlogging" in our heads anyways, shit, half the time I catch
more...
myself talking to myself with hand movements and everything.
And, all this mental vlogging, yeah, it helps us grow, helps us discover who we are - and who are we doing that for? I think there it's take to say we do it for ourselves, because that's in no way true - it's always for others.
So we vlog, we get it out there, instead of just being fake, keeping it all inside and saying we're better people - well, who the freak is going to tell if you don't share it?
And, I think - to help with the intimacy part - is that's why we want it, is it's someone that we can always make sure will take time to notice we've done all this vlogging in our heads.
Funny to think you're being intimate with everyone on Livevideo, eh?

So, if I'm reading you right, you're saying that we all, perhaps, have a desire to share our inner-most thoughts with another (or others) and that we WANT that intimacy- we WANT to be understood by others and still
more...
accepted and loved...that that's even the reason why we vlog perhaps- for a sense of intimacy, even if it's with strangers, in the hopes that others will "get" us?
I hope that's not too off the mark, but I think that's a really interesting perspective and it definitely makes sense to me.
