Oh JD, I love going to these! We have one in NC (I believe it's Concord); We have went for 3 years now; my family will dress up in the attire and spend all day there and camp out in the campgrounds neaerby! It is so much fun! - Can't wait until October! more...

I went to one in Texas about 20 years ago. I think it was called Scarborough Fair or something like that. It was a real hoot!

Like everything in Texas, they do 'em up big there. Yes, it was the Scarborough Renaissance Faire in Waxahachie, south of Dallas. That was the one I went to.

Early in my professional life, I used to do Tarot readings at Renaissance fairs. This video really does a marvelous job of capturing the experience of attending one. :-)

It's a great afternoon's entertainment. Some of the people really get "dolled up" in some pretty fancy (and I'll bet, hot) costumes.

In Houston, they had "Wenches" that would roam among the crowd and pinch the men. The women were taunted by "Rascals"...of course, that behavior may have been "modified" since :)

I love it..I want so badly to make A Renaissance costume..I got all kinds of patterns for Eowyn's maiden Dress, then I hurt my hand and just couldnt find something nice enough that I could buy..Love it , love it...If I had lived back then, I would probably more...

Oh, forgot to mention how freaky we are for "Medieval Times" dont ask how many trips per year we take. Lets say my whole glass collection says "Medieval Times" and either lights up or looks like a goblet...pppffff

That looks so cool! I wonder if the jousting hurts much? I suppose it would if they were using thicker lances. All the costumes were neat. Thanks for sharing this JD :)

Actually, the knight on the brown horse was a young lady. If you watch the scene where the lances break, she DID bang her shoulder up a bit. I don't think she tried THAT again...at least, not THAT day.
