glad you are okay, and you're right, that was disturbing, i got nauseas just watching that. unfortunately it seems the majority of accidents are caused by other riders and motorists, and not ourselves. glad you didn't get hurt too bad.

Your not the first person that said it made them feel sick watching it.
As for the blame for the accident I have to accept half the blame. I wouldn't have gone down if he hadn't gone down but I also should have been able to avoid going down even in the

event of a rider in front of me going down. I made a mistake. I was riding too close and I panicked when I saw him go down. I should have kept my distance and made sure the bike was upright before hitting the brakes.
I'm just glad I'll have the opportunity to get back on and try again. Lots of downed bikers don't get a second chance.

I just realized that the other rider was visible at the end of the video and you were probably asking why he went down.
Well in my opinion it was lack of skill of the rider. He was riding too much bike for his skill level and he was trying to keep up

with more experienced riders when he should have rode at his own pace. He even admitted that later.

A rider went down in front of me. Unfortunately I was leaned over the bike so the camera was pointing at the gauges so you couldn't see him.
The rocks were extremely close. I actually hit a big flat rock with my hip and a softball sized rock hit my head

and smashed my helmet up pretty bad.

Damn dude, that looks like it could have been a hell of a lot worse. Big bikes inspire overconfidence, which is exactly what happened to your friend infront of you. It's so fast, yet he doesn't know how to ride, so he habitually enters corners way too

hot. I'd have gone with your first instinct and left him on the side of the road earlier in the day, but hindsight is 20/20 right? I can't preach too much though, a little inattention caused me a bit of pain a few weeks ago myself...

Yeah I really wish I would have left the group. I know I wouldn't have gone down in that spot if I had.
I was actually going to branch off in a different direction about 5 miles down the road. I was uncomfortable riding with this guy and made an excuse
more...
that we were near my brother's house and I was going to split from the group and go visit him. Oh well. I learned a lesson. Be careful when riding with people you aren't familiar with.

your guys tires hadn't even had a chance to warm up. You are lucky though, I went down something like that and wound up with a separated shoulder. Still rode the bike home though. Is that a Kodak V570 in your helmet?

My camera is a v570. I also modified my helmet. The amazing thing is that the camera didn't come out of the helmet and it didn't even lose a single frame during the impact.

I was surprised that I wasn't badly injured. I'm not sure why. I think I should have been really messed up but I was only slightly scraped and bruised. It could have been a lot worse.

I'm not sure if it was the adrenaline that made it seem this way but it didn't seem like a big deal at the time. Watching the video is actually scarier than I remember the real event being.

The guy on the ground was hurt a little worse than me but he was pretty much ok. He got up and we both rode our bikes home.
My bike has minor damage. I need knew fairings and a turn signal. His bike was totaled by his insurance company.
