Description: |
A video of a pirated "Pokémon" game. This game comes in two versions, Diamond and Jade. It has nothing to do with the Diamond for the DS. It's a hack more...of Keitai Denjuu Telefang (which also came in two versions: Power and Speed), an obscure Japanese RPG. Somebody in China thought it would be a great idea to take the game, bootleg it by doing a really bad translation, and giving it a Pokémon title to convince people that these are rare Pokémon games. As a result people have negative impressions on this game. For more information, go to this link: [Wikipedia article]
The translation is so bad it contains swearing! Thankfully, this video has only one swear word (and it's rather mild), but this game has practically every swear word except the f-word. I don't think the bootlegger(s) even knew that the game has swearing in it... <_<
Due to the Engrish translation, the plot will probably be really confusing. The game starts by the main character, Bek (Shigeki in the authentic Japanese version), accidentally being transported to another world from his phone. This world is full of "electric monsters" (hereon referred to as Denjuu, as that's supposedly what they're supposed to be called according to Wikipedia), and you can use these Denjuu to fight other Denjuu (doesn't this sound a LITTLE bit like Pokémon?) Except instead of Poké Balls, you use... cell phones. The concept of this is actually interesting, though, as you want to call Denjuu that are close by (or else they may get lost).
When arriving to this world, we learn that the village is in trouble due to some water shortage or something. Netaro, the Denjuu in charge of carrying the water, likes to sleep a lot. He is also locked away from his brother Nejiro, due to some people that are obsessed with curry (which tastes really bad, by the way) trying to take advantage of him for something (I don't really know what). I'm not going to spoil anything past this point, so I'll stop here. If you want to see more of this game, though, feel free to search for "Telefang" on YouTube.
By the way, if you've ever seen or played this game, you'll notice the font's different in this video. This is because I made a patch (which took me about four hours!) to change the font. I really hated the old font, so that's why I changed it. If you hate the old font as much as I do, click here! It's an .ips file that changes the font, but you need the ROM for this to work.
By the way, here is a small list of what some of the Engrish quotes mean:
"For the clever opponent, Injure increase!!" = "It's super-effective!" "For the foolish opponent, Injure reduce!!" = "It's not very effective..." "In severe illness!" = "A critical hit!" "Regret, didn't catch!" = "Can't escape!" T-mildew, Mildew-T, Midew-T = T-Fanger (see Wikipedia article for more details)
Oh, and apologies for the poor quality -- with a video as long as this, it's inevitable, and it doesn't help that LiveVideo likes to brighten everything. Though, it probably wouldn't look much better on YouTube, not that YouTube allows anything over 10:59 anyway. On the other hand, this video does look a lot better on my hard drive... >_> less
