Roger,
Really, what is there to say? You have some deep hurts. Maybe your dad doesn't know how to speak to you? Maybe he is ashamed of having left you? Have you ever asked him why he left? If you can't say the words, why not write him a letter? Maybe

he will surprise you with an honest answer,,,, maybe the answer will hurt but at least you would know....Good luck to you what ever you decide.

I think it's so great that you were able to connect with other members of your family especially with the pain you endured with the kind of relationship you had with your parents. I can't say that I understand that pain but I can understand the joy

of having uncles and cousins and all that good stuff. My extended family is probably the reason I started making videos.
I'm really hoping you can develop a close relationship with your dad and just have a growing bond with the rest of relatives.
Thanks for sharing and being so open.

embrace your dad, not with anger but with love, seems like he's made efforts,at least you have a dad that has made an effort (however little) to want to get to know you and you know what he looks like . 18 years years might be left empty but you can clean

the slate & start over. your only 27 still got alot of life to live and room to grow. find your awnsers befor its to late , in this life we live today and there might not be a tomorrow for you to wait for and wish u did something you were gonna do yesterday and regret not doing now. you can spiral downwards & wonder why & richochet yourself like a boomerrang in the walls of your own emotions but if u dont stop standing still and do something about it you might never know the awnsers let alone your father thus finding out moe about a part of yourself. not trying to be mean but sulking isn't gonna help my friend. i feel your pain man i do and i wsih you all the best . gods speed. i envy your courage & bravery , you are a true inspiration, thank you for sharing . may you & your father work things out without killing each other. you cant worry about what you cant change you can only focus on the presents at hand and what your gonna do with it. (i apologize if anything i have said has offended you in any way) peace & love my man .

Boy, do I understand this. My daughter went through the same thing and is about 24 years old now and still sad about it. Her Dad was an alcoholic I had to throw out of the house to protect her.
My mother was an absent alcoholic most of the time. I totally

understand. If you ever have time, watch my "There's something I really have to tell you" video, but I won't make it a video comment here because I don't want to take away from what you're feeling. I totally understand. You'll need a lot of time to grieve and to heal, but one day the best for you is to forgive him. (just take that with a grain of salt because not everyone can do that).
Many good thoughts to you, as I believe we are all connected somehow. We all feel much of the same pain and can reach out to each other to say, "It's Ok. I understand." The worst thing we can do is to try to cover up our pain with alcohol or drugs ourselves. It's better to feel than to be numb.
Warm thoughts and snowflakes from Alaska,
Lynne

Thanks for watching my video.... I watch my own video a few times, and I still cry, but I feel a lot better because so many people have been moved and feel the same about their own families and fathers.I wish I could have kids, but alas, I cant. If

I could, I would be having TWO boys, so I could play catch, football, and show them all the things my father never showed me. Mostly so I can have the chance to do it TWICE, once for myself, and once for my boys.
