eggs and food. We took a shot with a little, and this critter is the results. Only one made it to adulthood, but it is a fascinating critter to watch. We still have lots more eggs and food, aand they will eat tropical fish food flakes if you grind them up a bit with your fingers. This thing went from an almost imperceptible spec to this in a very short time. It already developed egg sacs, and will probably lay them in a few days.

We tried to grow some but did not make it that far about 10 days we lost them, when we changed the water I forgot that it had to be spring water and put regular water in, a few minutes after they went in they started to go. But you are right they are

the instructions that came with ours said to use distilled water, and not tap or spring water. My online research told me not to even change the water at all, but to just let it evaporate on it's own. Apparently, triops have such a short lifespan becauase

they are usually born out of desert areas that get little rainfall. when it does rain, they have little time to grow and breed, so they make the best of it by being hjermaphrodites and creating their own eggs. After their puddle dries up, the eggs can lay dormant for up to 10 years while waiting for rain. I know, I know, nerdy to know these things...lol.

This is amazing and freaky. The music you added was perfect for it. I had never seen anything like this before. Hope to see more!

What's more amazing and freaky is that he is now dead. I can grow more though. I am kind of a nature/sciency freak. Not a nerd, just a freak. LOL.

I got my y yr old son a BioDome habitat kit, and the eggs and food were in it. I played along, thinking nothing would come of it, but there's the proof! You can buy them in any of those science stores, like World of Science, Discovery Store, and even
