Nice bike! I have a 500 as well and love it. Yet still plan on selling it. Check out my vids and you may learn something about the mod options for a 500 like a Muzzy full system exhaust and jet kits. They are a good bike. And they do well at the track!

most of the issues, the scuffs and whatnot, are common for a bike that old. Looks like you just learned the thing has parkinglights the hard way. No worries, that battery can be saved. It cannot, however, be saved through letting it idle. Bikes aren't

like cars, and don't make enough juice to charge the battery at idle. They only make enough to sustain whats there. You'll have to go out and ride it around at 4-5k rpm for a little while (run up the freeway a few miles and back...) and it should be fine. I've got a vid up about jumpstarting a bike from a car if you can't get the thing to start, it's really easy. Only thing to remember is to not leave them connected for long (overheats the bat) and not to have the car running (too much juice might fry the bikes harnesses). Otherwise it's pretty straightforward.

The small batteries in these bikes don't have a LOT of juice in them. It is not too hard to drain them down .. so don't sweat that TOO much :)

lol, congrats!
Great bike.
You can just roll it down a hill in Neutral and when you have enough momentum, grab the clutch, click into first and let the clutch go, rev it a bit and it will come to life!
