I hear ya on the desk job. You sit on your ass for 8 hours a day and then try to make up for it by exercising when you get home. It's tough. I've put on around 7-8lbs just after working my desk job for about 4 months now. Slowly shaving that back off

to get down to where I was but it's extremely easy to gain weight now that I sit on my ass all day.

Some exercise is better than none. But twenty minutes a day on a treadmill is nothing. Your best bet is to do two things. The first is to consume fewer calories than you burn each day. And to avoid going into starvation mode, do it by eating more

meals that are smaller in calories than a few larger meals.
Avoiding carbs is a good thing. Fat is not so bad as you might think. Protein is good.
I'm no nutrition expert. But the clear culprit is sugar. And any time you consume more calories than you burn, you will gain weight.

I'm using a site called fitday.com to track my calories eaten and calories burned to make sure I'm at a caloric deficit. I'm alternating between cardio and weight lifting. I lift weights for about 45 minutes every other day focusing on different muscle

groups each day. Then I do cardio for 30 minutes on nonlifting days.
Cutting out sweet stuff has been a big help. I lost weight just by doing that and not exercising at all but it wasn't happening fast enough. Since I started working out the weight has been dropping pretty quick. Its not really hard. You just have to be motivated enough to get started.

Did you ever watch my vid on a similar subject? It was before I fixed my helmet cam so it has you looking at the street but the info is solid.
Artificial sweeteners stimulate an artificial glycimic response and are VERY bad for you especially if consumed

regularly or in large amounts. Calorie free sweeteners are the really scary ones.
Go with water with a splash of citrus in it or tea (hot or cold) with some honey in it.
Maybe we can start a fitness movement in the biker community. :P

I've heard bad things about artificial sweeteners too. I've cut back on that kind of stuff. I drink a lot more water at home and at work. I keep a few propel packets with me just incase I eat somewhere with bad tasting water.
I have thought about starting

a separate channel to talk about fitness related stuff.
I'll go back and watch that vid on your channel.

I need a good kick up the ass, as I've let myself go over the last 10 years, and piled on the lbs. I'm gonna have to sort this business out sooner or later, and plan to start once I get back off vacation next month. I reckon it'll take me at least
more...
a year to get into shape though :((
Good luck with getting yourself fit and active.

Its amazing how much you can change in 10 years without really noticing. It happens so slowly. Its discouraging how slowly you change when trying to lose weight. I seem to be losing weight pretty steadily I just hope I can keep it up.

Desk job here too and my gut is beginning to grow. I held a strict exercise regime for around 2 years and got into shape pretty good then dropped it as it was taking up too much of my time. I think it's time to start it up again but maybe spend less

time on it than before. Good luck with it.

I spend about 30 minutes working out each night. I alternate between cardio and weight lifting. I never thought I would be the type to lift weights but it helps a lot. Maintaining a pound of muscle requires more calories than maintaining a pound of fat.

Gaining muscle will help boost your metabolism. The last time I tried to lose weight I didn't know that. I just did cardio and I was always exhausted and actually gained weight after a meager loss.
I've read and leanred a lot about weight loss and nutrition but I still have a lot to learn. Hopefully in 6 months to a year I can make some videos talking about my progress and maybe I can help some other people in my current situation.

Patience is a virtue. You didn't gain it overnight, so you won't lose it overnight...just keep doing what you're doing....try to eat right, exercise regularly....this time next year you'll be good to go.

I'm already starting to see improvements. I've been working out and eating better for just about a month and I already need to buy new pants because they're falling off.
Thanks for the encouragement. I'm sure if I keep doing what I'm doing I'll be in

pretty good shape in about 6 months to a year.
