I've had a notion since I was three, the devil's been after me
I saw him on a billboard, and in the eyes of a snarling more...dog
He knew when I was weak, had a way of making things look bleak
and he'd love to see the sun shrouded by a blinding fog
Chasing my shadow he moves in the dark
fouling every rule to take hold
but then when I ask to see the face of my enemy,
wouldn't you know he wouldn't show
It struck my funny that he would pass up a chance
to sell his sickness to me
and then I felt his fear and it became quite clear
he's afraid of anything that's free
he's afraid of my mind, he's afraid of me less

Funny thing happened to me this morning, I forgot to close my black-out curtains more...last night
Sun came up so early without warning, but instead of getting mad I

well the hole was small and I could not stand so I got down on my knees and hands
and I crawled towards the dark 'till I could not see, when I came to the voice, it was coming from me
What a joy, what a joy it is to feel all the things that are right, all the things that are real
