I get a lot of private messages from those who struggle with being seen in the world. We all deal with this on some level but these are people who have, more...for whatever reasons, kept themselves hidden OR they were rendered invisible by those who were supposed to give them a place to stand and be known in the world. A few are my good friends, but most I know through the letters they've sent me.
Regardless of the reasons, they all seem to have one thing in common; they're all online to try to make themselves visible in some way, whether it's through video, text, or just by simply having a channel where their public identities can begin to take shape through the content they add.
There are SO many people who are here for this reason, more so than for entertainment or to express themselves- we have no idea, and it'd be my guess that people might be surprised if they really knew the extent of it.
