Great post,
I grew up in reggio la. my family shrimped for a living... I spent most of my time on the bayous and I also lived in honey island swamp north of slidel when my parents sold the boat and we moved where the work was. When I see your video and

others like it I see the truth that all those who live in new orleans and the southern areas of louisiana know, we all have lived it.. corruption has always been the rule of play, its who has to give and how much that determines the outcome of any situation all others are expendable.... I would like to say that it could change...but I think the corporate/governments like it just the way it is. By the way my uncle and aunts houses were about 4 miles from the area of the parade in your video. thanks for posting

hiya turtle!
thanks for checking it out. this is th lower ninth ward, and it is amazing to me how the water destroyed EVERYTHING! i mean there is just NOTHING LEFT. of course it took alot to clean out the debris of all of the former homes...
but not

by the corporate/governments, by NGO's like Make it Right, ACORN, and Common Ground relief-- the government is a part of this as the LARGEST LAND GRAB IN HISTORY... to be followed by the Trans Texas Corridor which will cut a ten mile swath thru the US taking homes thru eminent domain, and the subprime debacle. property rights are a thing of former generations. we are all slaves in this feudal paradigm!
peace be with you!

hi bruce!
thanks for stopping by! it is inspirational the spirit with which the people of New Orleans are coming back. there is so much love and culture in that place, it is amazing. and the people are getting a royal screwing from the government that

wouldn't allow them back into their homes, letting them rot beyond repair. really a criminal act. but the city will be reborn. it will be different, but nothing stays the same, so...

One item of additional note - great opening statements -"... instead of a white community or a black community, now we're just a community." - powerful!

Sadly... this is just incredible...
And one should also ask oneself, is it worthwhile to rebuild to only have it happen again - or is it more responsible to compensate and relocate the people to avoid this seemingly endless reptition of man vs nature

hey D-- and welcome back!!!!
interesting thought. the truth is the whole region is a marvel of engineering, like the netherlands, but NEVER MAINTAINED or upgraded. there are many places where people live below sea level, and build on stilts or whatever,

but repopulating the lower ninth is tricky, and truth be told, MOST people are NOT coming back,or they would have already been there.
but out of destruction comes the opportunity for recreation in a new and vibrant way.

hiya riz--
actually a HUGE part of NOLA is still in shambles. houses are standing only because the mold and termites are holding them up. it is a ghost town. and the lower ninth, as you see here, is just GONE!!!
peace!
