Hmmmmm.....[strokes chin]
You know, I'm going to have to say....I liked the original better. It actually was the first time I heard the song, and it got me into it. This video was okay, but there were...a few things that pulled it down.
One factor includes
more...
a number of segments where you seemed to revert back to clips and segments that you used in the first vid around the same part as their presence in the new version...occasionally, they worked, but most of them seemed awkward or ill-timed (such as her throwing the knives from the drill), or had a different focus with the changes in Mai's character. Remaking a vid, especially one like this, requires...almost a start-from-scratch attitude.
Another thing was timing. There were quite a few points in the first video where you had the timing PERFECT...and when I watched this one, I was expecting that same timing, but it seemed off....maybe it was my imagination. I dunno. It just seems like you could have done MORE with this video, and you're not letting it reach its full potential. I LOVE your original one...watching it again as I write this comment, there's no doubt that I find that one better. It makes great use of the limited clips....and the beats are much better-timed.
The clips for the second verse also seemed a little off...the fast-paced battle with the slower part of the song just didn't fit well. The words seemed to match, but...the beat and the audio/visual blend were a little jarring.
Now, though, I LIKED a large selection of the new clips you added. The opening was good (though I'm debating whether or not it beats the original...possibly, but the first one's was very well-done), and a large number of season three clips worked. The "fairy tales" segment was DEFINITELY right on the button.
The song does fit Mai and Maiko very well, though, as you said. Now, more than ever. If the genders were reversed and it was ZUKO singing the song, that would be....100% perfect. Unfortunately, they're...frustratingly inverted. It has nothing to do with Mai, but Zuko needs to move on...that attitude.
Good song to listen to, though. You don't have to revise if you do not want to, but I'd recommend taking another stab at it if you're trying to remake or improve it. :)

I really appreciate someone as famous as you you taking so much time to examine it.
I realized some problems as I was making this one because I couldn't seem to make it roughly chronological and tell a story like I usually do.
I *did* want this to be

better than it turned out, but I ntoiced long ago that the videos I put the most effort and thought into and have the highest hopes for don't turn out as popular as random ideas that I throw together just to satisfy my muse and have little expectation for. Same thing happened to Louisa May Alcott (with books, of course).
Maybe you should take a stab at this combo ;)
