Description:
This is my parody of the TV Show theme "Rawhide!". AT the time I performed this I was a member of a local improvisational comedy troupe called the Time'

Squares. I would perform a couple of song parodies during each show we did just to give the other Squares a break. We originated in a New York-style deli-restaurant called Chompie's, so the manager who founded our group wanted NYC-flavored material. I have never been in New York, but I know that problems with taxis are a running joke there. I waas also somewhat enamored of the Blues Brothers rendition of "Rawhide!" in their movie. Somehow those two things collided like chocolate and peanut butter, and this parody was born. I did my own Karaoke arrangement on my synthesizers and created the cab fronts out of foamcore for the "cabbies".

Thanks, Bun! Yep, just because some of my vids are older and earlier doesn't mean they cannot be enjoyed as much as my newer ones. Most of my vids don't depend on being "current" And therefore have more of a shelf life to them. Enjoy!

Baron, I've got to watch more of your old vids! I used to do improv shows in San Francisco, and this really brought back some fond memories. Very clever lyrics, great delivery, and funny backup support! =)

Thank you very much! I hope to get more "vintage" stuff uploaded in the near future. OUr Group was born in a New York-style Deli-Restaurant where the manager wanted to have some late night weekend entertainment, and he wanted us to inject as much NYC

flavor as we could. "Cab Ride" sprung to my mind as something befitting such a theme. I still have the cab fronts I made in my garage.

This is my kind of song! I rank this one up there with some of the greats- Tom Lehrer, Allan Sherman, etc..

Gee, that's a shame about your friend. And she's on LV to boot. LV is the perfect OUTLET for this kind of stuff!
No one gets famous here, but we DO get an audience. Perhaps she lost sight of the sheer JOY of writing and performing comedy and parody,

thinking that she had to be famous or "successful" to make it worth doing. That's an easy trap to fall into.
I think, however, barring real setbacks like a debilitating mental illness, that a person can always tap that well again, and that it has never really run dry. One just needs motivation to perform, and a good idea to chew on.

I have a dear friend, who is on livevideo, who was a genius with skits and song parodiesfor stage and video. For some reason she says that's in her past.
My faith is renewed with your stuff. It's timeless!

THANKS, man! And BTW, I cover Tom Lehrer's "Elements" in one of my videos. Just look in the "Armchair Karaoke" album!
I've been writing song parodies since I was a kid and discovered MAD Magazine. Indeed, MAD was a huge influence on many aspects of

my visual and performance art.
In my improv-comedy troupe, The Time'Squares, I would perform two of these song parodies every night as a way to break up the improv games and give the other players a break. "CabRide" was the first of the songs I wrote for the show.

Top Notch lyrics and fun fun FUN performance!
I miss working at traditional animation studios and having regular access to other creative nut cases in the cartoon biz... looks like I'm finding the next best thing here on livevideo!

I hear ya, babe! My short stint at an animation studio was a wonderful period of being in a professional workplace with a buncha wackos. I was amazed I got any work done at all with all the madcap lunacy that pervaded the animation department.
Thanks

for the compliments! I love making song parodies. Normally I would tey to procuce a "Music video" for such things, but this live performance of "Cab Ride" was so much fun that I wanted to share that energy with y'all.

Thank you, Sweetie!
I come froma live theater background myself, and I always loved designing and painting scenery. Since this was my one song that required additional performers, it was an excuse to make these Cab Fronts. You cant see it very well,

but I also designed our group's logo on our black T-shirts.
