The Fourth "Anniversary" of the start of the war in Iraq. There is no "right" reason. ______________
False Standard-bearer
I’ll carry her with you to the more...tallest of spires above that great city that came under fire, to honor each hero who took to those stairs without benefit of a rocket’s red glare.
I’ll pause as she waves from a ship’s highest spar, sailing in defense of those fifty white stars. If it means ending terror and future lives saved, then carry her into the deep Afghan caves.
But always remember past political follies when subjecting our troops to the enemy’s volleys. Her last days in Saigon epitomized shame: fifty-eight thousand lost and countless more maimed.
Yet, now we’re entrenched in a deadly quagmire, sent by the “truths” of a certified liar. This false standard-bearer would have us believe our nation’s downfall would ensue if we leave.
For the sake of every mother’s daughter and son who is paying the price for this war you’ve begun, admit you were wrong, George, and bring our flag back from the horrible mess that you’ve made in Iraq.
