Actually, if you ONLY breath through the mouth and not the nose you avoid the stinging in your sinus that results in tears. And congratulations to the two of you...missed the getting married part.

- cut it under water
-freeze for ten minutes before chopping
-don't breathe at all through your mouth
-don't cut the root
-don't hold your head directly over it
