Oh, and by the way. I'm technically fourth, but I don't count Jasper since he's been MIA for six months now. So I am third, thank you. :P Glad you noticed, btw, I caught it a few days ago myself.

Yea, you did it right. :P I'll probably find out about the new site in a few weeks, but some things take time.

I think most of the power from changing cans comes from the weight reduction. At least it does if you have a catalytic can stock like I do. If you go to straight pipes, you need them tuned to the harmonic resonance of your motor or you do lose power

because the exhaust valves are opening up when the header pressure is higher.

i would think the power would come from better flow. another good idea is to heat wrap your headers, so the heat is trapped in the pipes. This way the exhuast gas stays hotter and flows better. As for tuning pipes, that usually has more to do with

exhuast flow (having the right size exhuast for your application), and i guess the design of the pipes. 2-1, 4-2-1, 4-2 etc.
Sometimes too much loss of backpressure can hurt a normally aspirated motor. Even a turbocharged engine needs smaller diameter pipes and some backpressure before the turbo.

My stock can weighs over 30lbs. I can get a net weight reduction of close to 30lbs by going with a carbon can. Of course that's about $600 just for the can.
It would be expensive, but it is possible to get a solid 10% hp gain out of my bike with can,

intake, rejet, and some head work.
The suspension would also like to be improved.
And all of that, every bit, is useless at my current skill level. I know this from a ride with someone who has the 2004 version of my in dead stock trim who was leaving me for dead on some twisty roads in Lancaster county.

eh, a 3 to 5 pound weight reduction is pretty minimal, even on something as light as a bike. The power gains come from the motor doing a better job of getting ALL the exhaust out. The weight decrease will help your acceleration a bit though, but you

probably won't really notice it.

Very nice lesson there. I mostly wanna change mine out for the sound difference. Mine right now kinda doesnt have much of any exhaust sound... theres sound... but the engine overpowers it.
I asked some other owners of my model of bike about going with
more...
dual Two Brothers cans and they said itd be to open and id have to rejet. 2 cans will cost a shitload more anyways, but I like the look of my bike with the dual.
This is all shit for the future anyways... can talk about it but sure as hell dont have any money to do it.

Then they're fuel injected. You don't re-jet EFI motors, you remap them. Completely different process. Wonder if any of the other SS's are going to go that route any time soon...

The new 600RR & 1000RR CBRs all have the auto-adjusters like you're talking about so they dont ever have to be rejetted.

Exactly, there's one big difference between cars and bikes though. Most cars have computer regulated air flow systems, automatic tuning if you will, so if the motor starts running rich, it will fix it itself. It's why you don't ever have to take an EFI

car in for a tune-up, it tunes itself up a few times each second...bikes, on the other hand, rarely do that. Big, expensive bikes (like the ZX-14 and the Concours) do, but for the most part, they don't.

Yeah I thought about it like a car. People have their exhausts redone all the time, from new headers to installing dual pipes or larger pipes yet they dont have to do anything more afterwards.

they're idiots. I am pretty sure that you don't have to rejet just because of a muffler set up, just because you are pushing air more easily OUT of the motor, doesn't mean you're sucking more in.
