Well, as you said "Academy - Collision Course" is written from your unique and personal vision. So, if enough folks buy it then why not continue the story arc, even though it may (or may not) be different from the movie's story. It will be your side more...

Never say never. Remember Loretta Lynn had a hit record and didn't know it at first because she was busy traveling around to all of the radio stations. If enough folks buy your book, then the powers that be will have to sit up and take notice.

The problem with the up coming movie (aside from the fact that you don't get a Cameo) is the fact that Spock and Kirk didn't meet until Kirk took over comand of the Enterprise from Christopher Pike.
