Description:
Back on the Applegate river, the same location where I ended my previous gold series. I remembered my sluicebox this time and show how it works.

As Vanzal mentioned, a metal detector video would be cool. I actually want to get a metal detector myself. They look a bit pricey though.

Might be hard to make a vid since I only have two hands and can't go around metal detecting with my motorcycle helmet on.. :). I'll figure something out though.

Well if you go to www.goldprospectors.org, go to Media -> Shows -> gold Fever. Watch the first episode, where he talks about the various ways to get gold and how to do it.

I can see the real reward is spending the day along the peaceful river. The gold is just the bonus.
Great vid.

Yes, I love being outside in nature. When trout season starts I'll have a hard time choosing between fishing or gold... :).

So what restrictions do you have when panning for gold? Are you limited to hand tools, or could you dig up the entire river?

I'd use a backhoe and large spaghetti strainer.

Well it depends. If you own a claim, you can pretty much do whatever you want. You do need to get certain permits to use the larger equipment though.
When working on unclaimed land, it is generally agreed that you should stick to hand operated mining(shovel,

pan, sluicebox, highbanker).
