I remember hearing about the murders shortly after they occurred, and seeing the press coverage in the months that followed. I read "Helter Skelter" and I saw the movie version, too. I think that of all those involved in the killings, Susan Atkins

would be the last person I would want to see released from prison. She seemed to take such sadistic delight in her horrific act of violence. I don't believe in the death penalty, but I do believe in locking people up and throwing away the key in some cases.

It will be a moot point in a few week when she's dead.

An interesting question, Gary.
At the risk of being overly simplistic, there is a price to be paid for all that we endeavor to do in life. Hers has yet to be tendered, and if "real" justice were granted, your question would be moot.
My all-time favorite

qualifyer of the

she killed a woman and her unborn child...I for one would show her NO simpathy......
that baby didnt get a second chance nor did its Mother and Susan was the one that made sure of that.....
I wouldnt be worried about what she would do if she got out but
more...
if ya do for one you have to do for another, it would start a landslide of terminal inmates asking for release.
Just my opinion

Susan Atkins has been denied parole 11 times. What is did was took anothers person life and the life of a child. She was young and on drugs when that happen. Also under the spell of Charlie.
Yes , I think she should be able to die at home. Have you seen

the list of Accomplishments that she has made since in prison? Yes people can change over years. I would not worry in the least bit that she would harm anyone if she was be set free. If you would like to show support to her release you can go here. http://www.susanatkins.org/B07Support.html
She has a greater God to stand in front of and be judged other than us the people. I support the release of Susan.

Hmmm....shouldn't this opportunity be afforded to Charles Manson first? After all, Charles Manson didn't actually kill anyone with his own hands. Simply put, if Susan were a MAN she would never get this option. Also consider this - she gets free healthcare

in prison that she might not be able to afford in free society.

Manson didn't kill anyone that we know of and can prove. But I would not be 100% sure that he didn't kill anyone.

I would have to say no,what if she gets out & then kills again. Then what.People were foolish to say ,oh she learned her lesson, let her out.A day or day goes by & she is out to kill more people.I stick to my story & say no.

You seem to forget that the Tate / LoBianco murders were not motivated by anything like need or desparation. These crimes were committed simply because they could (be committed). There was simply no reason for it. Imagine the horrible desparation Sharon

Tate felt as she realized what was actually happening. I say NO. Keep Atkins in jail till the bitter end.

No.
Judgment was passed more than 30 years ago. Some would consider Life a bargain for a cold-blooded death. This recent development aside, has anything else changed overnight regarding conditions of parole?

I can see both sides of this issue, and thank you for your opinion. Thus far, I see that people are 50/50 split in their opinions, and I'm very interested in hearing what everyone has to say.
