Thanks. I had not heard of Quivic. You can always reach me at my regular channel of alaskainmydreams and you can always contribute anything you know how to do on a video by adding a link to this channel's videos section. Have fun with Divx. I know you

I always start with a .avi.
This works best and gives you the best quality.
Hope this helps.

I tried that, but all my subtitles broke up into fractals. I wonder if there is a special setting for text....
Thanks for posting this! I'll fiddle around some more. Keep warm!

It's also only 89.95 if ordered right from the About menu inside the software whenever the trial runs out. Or I think it prompts you each time you go out of it. Can't remember exactly, but if you go for the box set (I'm not sure how that works where

you are), then you get some free stuff with it.

You can always try sony vegas for free. Couldn't hurt to try it. I love it. It doesn't load my computer down.

30 day free trial. Best codecs around. Sony's been doing movies almost longer than anyone.

The trial version lets you export

them in .avi (mpeg requires that you own it, but I don't like the quality of mpg so much). Then I take the .avi drop it into divx.
Good luck with it!

Let's see, I tried Cyberlink, that made the files too large and was too compex( I hate trial and error for learning the effects of codecs and filters)
Then I tried Ulead, but again, the filesizes where too big and the text came up grainy. Very user friendly

during editing, but a nightmare during saving and compression, as well as loading time. CPU-hogger.
I'm still struggling with MovieMaker till I find something better. It twitches a little and can't be effectively uninstalled cleanly as it belongs to the Windows family. Simple but a little too crude. It has worked so far, so...
Yeah, I know about the divx, xvid and other compressors, as I get a lot of videos off the Net. But subtitles, especially in Japanese, have been awkward. Regardless of what happens, I appreciate the support. Thanks Lynne.

I'm not sure about that. I've not had a problem with subtitles or text. What program do you use to make your movies?
The newest version of Divx also has a movie editor that comes with it. I've not tried to use it because I own Sony Vegas 6.0.
