On July 25, 1946, a group of Walton County klansmen ambushed 4 black sharecroppers, pulled them out of a car, dragged them down an embankment, and shot more...them with 60 rounds of ammunition. Because of the haughtiness of the whites and fear from the blacks, few people stepped forward and offered any information. The crime was never solved.
