Description:
The vast majority of prayers are self-indulgeant, elitist, arrogant and self-absorbed. They are absolutely and utterly immoral.

what I see is that most people seem to treat prayer like a wish to a genie thats going to grant a wish if they are good. I beleive in god and i do pray. But most of my prayers are for my loved ones and hardly ever for myself unless to ask for strenght

to make it through a diffuilt time. I aggree that most prayer is selfish in nature but i disaggree that all prayers are selfish.

I would recommend that you watch the video response that Furrtrap made, as well as my video response to that. I feel that it would answer a lot of your questions.
Additionally, I do still maintain that most prayer is selfish. People think firstly about
more...
themselves and their loved ones, and only later about those they've never met. As Nietzsche said "love of the furthest away is always nobler than love of one's neighbour".
Who would you rather see healed (taking this example in particular), your spouse/child or some unknown person in Delhi or Sarajevo? I would wager that you pray first for your spouse/child, and only later, as an afterthought, for the unknown "one-in-billions". That in itself is selfish (in my opinion).
So, yes, I would urge all those who spend far too much time on their knees to rise up and put more time into voluntering, doing charity work, fundraising for cures to cancer and lobbying for stem cell research, etc.
I care about others because, as Thomas Paine famously wrote, "the World is my country, all humanity are my brethren and to do good is my religion".
I hope this answers your questions.

OK I've finally got around to doing a video response. It's longer than I had originally planned. Some of it quite humourous. It's 21 mins long broken into 3 parts. Hope you enjoy.

Just a quick text comment... I wholeheartedly agree with a lot of what you say. I sense a video comment looming on the horizon to this one :)
