You're talking about my cat Harry, right? Well, he DOES enjoy it very much! I'll need to keep a very close eye on Harry....he goes out there every morning and drinks out of the birdbath, but he is an old cat now (13) and he hasn't damaged a bird in quite

Thanks for watching & commenting, brat.

Blue birds are one of my favorites. You've done a lot to detract invaders that is new to me. I never realized there was so much involved with bird houses.

Birds, and their eggs, have many predators such as snakes, house sparrows, raccoons, squirrels, blowflies (the larvae is a bloodsucking insect which will kill the babies) and, of course our lovable kitties! The bluebird nests are monitored regularly

to help prevent insect infestation, as well as using predator guards.
Hugs to you, Nan!.

Please watch is short clip of the house sparrow for identification purposes. This was the first sighting of the sparrow a few days ago. Thankfully he has not returned...yet.

I do care for God's gentle creatures, but cannot tolerate the cruel ones, like the house sparrow. Please see the short vid I'm uploading now and will attach to this vid. It's a clip of the house sparrow for identification purposes.
Thanks for watching!

My Dad put up bluebird houses all over God's little acre and the bluebirds were all over the place until he was unable to care for the boxes.(I think you have to clean them out every year.)

The bluebird population was in decline until folks like your Dad started building nest boxes for them Jay. Now they are becoming more numerous. The special boxes have a small entry hole that most other competing birds can't enter. And, yes, the boxes

should be cleaned out after the babies leave the nest, as the parents like to start over with a clean box. This way, they may use the same box for 2-3 broods each year.
It's a fascinating topic!

it looked like a house sparrow at the end. ?
I recommend a double barrel shotgun for the non-native sparrows. Never misses, just make sure no bluebirds are near.
You might splinter the house a little . . .

It was the female bluebird at the end, Margaret. From a distance, and even in the video, they are difficult to identify, thus my intrusion when she was in the nest. The sparrows are brown with striped wing, and the males have a very noticeable black

throat.
What I plan to use on the sparrow is a 22 with bird shot. It has a scope and it's loaded and ready. :-)
I will definitely be cautious and not hurt other birds. Thanks for your comment!
