"That was amazing!! but you would still be governed to some degree with the weather wouldn't you? " Yep, you would but standard practises of retaining water in dams etc are wasteful, you can modify the soil properties to maximise water use as pointed

out in the vid, and similar methods have been introduced to farmers to desalinate their soil etc, those who care to listen...
"when he says that all the worlds problems are solved with a garden, its a different story if you depended on a garden to eat and make money..."
Each person with even a small courtyard for a backyard or whatever could grow their favourite vegies etc. Wheat products would be a problem though, so I suppose some farming would still be useful :) Depends how refined you want your garden I suppose...and how much effort you're willing to put in outside other time restraints like job etc
You have seen some of my comments on charity 'fronts'? If they actually employed people as teams to go in in all the areas of the world suffering and doing this sort of thing(the vid) then wouldn't everyone have a way of making some basic foods without having to be turned into agricultural power houses for commerce, or promoting the lie subtley of 'survival of the fittest'? The problem of the dollar actually creates these conditions. That's why charity 'fronts' keep asking for money because they help a few survive but do not promote self sustainability or they would be without a purpose...other than the most obvious one.
Water technology is getting pretty advanced, you can seed the air with planes to create rain fall (costly) and there are even machines that can extract water from the air (well at least one I know of at the Goldcoast in an apartment block, saw it on the news a few years ago 'once' of course as it was a story that actually had purposeful content...)
Desalination techniques etc... those oceans have a lot of water...and of course as pointed out in the vid being the cheapest and most direct; soil retention of water. :)
