What happened is I have Dynavox DV4 software on my computer, and there are three voices that are the really good ones, there's a male, female, and child voice and they are easy to understand. Then there are the old DECtalk voices, which are harder to understand. One day in the middle of something, the good voices stopped being available, and I had to use the DECtalk voices. I think the voice I was using was actually supposed to more...be female, but even the female DECtalk voices don't sound female. I had to reinstall and reboot the computer a couple of times before I got the good voices back. At any rate, that's why I was using a different voice than usual. less | |

I got the poster from Mouth Magazine. Basically, if even one person's being dehumanized, I'm going to want to do something about it, that's just part of my values. less

This is the second of two parts, so if you found this video first, go back and look for the first one. Marihani asked me when I got my keyboard. It's more...a simple question with a complicated answer, so I gave the short version of the long complicated answer in this video (this is the second of two parts).
I want to add (as a general note, based on past experiences) that I don't mind answering questions but I prefer that when people are asking questions, they're also telling about themselves as well, so that it's reciprocal, between people rather than a one-way zoo exhibit. ;-) And, in that vein, keep in mind that my experiences here aren't exactly standard, even though they're also not exactly unheard of either. less

The first part is in my "native language," and then the second part provides a translation, or at least an explanation. This is not a look-at-the-autie more...gawking freakshow as much as it is a statement about what gets considered thought, intelligence, personhood, language, and communication, and what does not. less
