scarlet | snow : Isaiah 1:18 "Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
Though this rock band's name may suggest a conflict in meaning, the music and message of Scarlet Snow illustrates the complexities of the Divine coming into contact with the fallen. With discerning, vulnerable lyrics and more...an aggressively raw musical style, this Athens, Georgia trio is carrying a message of faith and love into uncharted waters, shedding hope and light to the dark places of the listener's heart and soul, to the places that popular Christian music seems uninterested in addressing.
"Most of the Christian music I hear hasn't helped me though my own trials," says Suzanne, lead vocalist and guitarist. "Most of this music today is bubbly, happy, feel good music. This is great, but it's not a message that will sustain you when your world collapses. We call these types of songs, 'Jesus Cakes.' They are sweet and tasty, but you just can't live on them."
2005 and 2006 were years of deep tragedy and loss for all members of Scarlet Snow. Their penetrating observations and reflections through their individually rocky journeys of faith are eloquently and honestly portrayed in their lyrics, exploring introspective themes of love and despair, truth and beauty, courage and fear. Though their lyrics touch on heavier issues of the heart, Suzanne, lead vocalist, insists that their fundamental message is a positive one.
Their struggles, but ultimately and more importantly, triumphs are expressed in their newest record, "Inclined."
