THAI AIRASIA CARRIES DONATIONS FOR FREE TO MYANMAR


Thai AirAsia is extending help to cyclone-ravaged Myanmar by offering to carry to Yangon   more...for free donations from the public and by continuing to provide regular flights to the country.

Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia, said that the airline wants to make sure that donations such as food, clothing, flashlights, and articles for shelter reach Myanmar as fast as possible. Thai AirAsia, which flies out of Bangkok, flies daily to and from neighboring Yangon.

The public may send their donations to any of the airline’s domestic and international stations, and Thai AirAsia will carry these donations to Yangon. Mr. Tassapon also said that the airline will not cancel its Bangkok-Yangon route. Humanitarian agencies planning to travel to Myanmar can contact the airline as the airline continues to operate regular flights to Yangon. Thai AirAsia is also allowing all guests on the Bangkok-Yangon route who were affected by the cyclone to change their travel dates free of charge.

Thai AirAsia has stations in all the destinations it flies to. In Thailand, it flies to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Krabi, Narathiwat, Phuket, Ranong, Surat Thani, Ubon Ratchathani and Udon Thani. Its international destinations include Singapore, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh, Phnom Penh, Yangon, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Jakarta, Shenzhen and Macau.

Grammy Award Winner Carmen Bradford at The Living Room


Grammy award-winning jazz diva, Carmen Bradford returns to The Living Room of The Luxury Collection,   more...Sheraton Grande Sukhumvit for a sensational session of world-class jazz from June 17th – July 20th.

Carmen is considered one of the most exciting and talented vocalists to have emerged over the past decade. Her passion and depth of musical experience had a major impact on the jazz genre. During her month long residency at Bangkok’s premier jazz venue, Carmen’s extraordinary vocal talents will be complimented by the Jeremy Monteiro and the Shawn Kelley Trios.

Raised in Altadena, California, Carmen Bradford studied classical music in Austin, Texas and has worked on projects with the likes of James Brown, Lou Rawls, Willie Nelson, Lena Horne, Tony Bennett, Joe Williams, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Wilson and Herbie Hancock. Carmen caught the attention of the late great, Count Basie and she performed with his famous orchestra during the early eighties. In 1991, she collaborated on a third Grammy Award winning album, “Big Boss Band”, with guitarist George Benson. Their celebrated performance of that classic duet, “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?” on the Johnny Carson Show brought Carmen into homes across America.

Carmen’s last release, “Home with You” is a beautiful collection of piano and vocal duets with pianist Shelly Berg. The album provides jazz fans with a stripped down, intimate portrait of an artist in her prime. Reviewing Carmen’s latest release All About Jazz said, “Bradford is one of the “real” singers.
