A brief anecdote concerning my encounter with the "Perfection of Yoga" and its author, A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.
I will not tolerate the more...minions of hypocritical demagogues like Prabhupada who one one hand reject the evils of commercialism, yet in another grab at the purse strings of people's gullible nature.
A word of warning: Be prepared to be stung when someone hands you a "free" gift. A guilt-laden demand for money will almost always follow. less

This is simply my take on multiculturalism / pluralism.
In the past decade, "multiculturalism" and "pluralism" have become a swear word on par with more..."liberal" in the 20th century. It is my firm belief that it has occured due to a deep misunderstanding as to the true nature of multiculturalism which is often seen as a political mechanism to the uniformalisation of various cultures into one gigantic überculture. This is not so. Multiculturalism is in my opinion the absolute opposite of standardization though unfortunately is quite often an indirect consequence of the exposure of several cultures to one another. less

Religious charities? Christian Aid? Do people give to charities for the Right reasons? Or do they simply be seen to be doing the right thing? It's something more...that bothers me greatly, especially now that the word "Christian" is the new Coca-Cola. Would Christians give to Satan Aid or to Atheist Aid? Why not? If the name is not important then what's stopping them?
The point here is of course that the word "Christian" shouldn't be present in the charity's name. It should simply be Aid or Human Aid. Throwing in the word Christian simply polarizes the issue. It makes Christians rally around this one cause because they are Christians. It alienates others and feeds the widely believed myth that atheists and other non-Christians are not generous and altruistic human beings.
No more Christian Aid! We need Human Aid!!! less

Just a short VLog to signal my return to the United Kingdom after a peaceful holiday.
It is essential to respect each other's boundaries. Too often more...I find myself and my friends assailled by boistrous and downright rude proselitizing individuals who invade our lives with hateful or insulting messages. I am tired of people bombarding my friends with scriptural faeces and Hellfire'n'Damnation threats. Let us keep our distances and remain civilized. If people wish to engage in conversation, so be it, that's a wonderful thing. Let's by all means do this. But if all people wish to do is send hatefilled and patronizing emails, that is not acceptable.
Naturally, this applies to everyone, theist and atheist alike. In fact, it applies to all registers of conversation.
It's common sense and common courtesy: If you don't want people to shit on your lawn, don't shit on theirs. less
