Over on Youtube I get almost nothing but negative comments on everything and while negative comments don't intimidate me, I am starting to find them annoying. Please click on the owners of any of these negative comments. I think you will find that they are even less impressive than myself. Most have not even posted or contributed anything to Youtube aside from non-stop negative comments to any channel that they may have had the fortune to stumble upon. They are like little more...parasites that attach themselves to your videos.
Here is my dilemma. I don't believe in censorship of any kind but I also don't believe that these negative comments are an accurate sampling of the population. I don't know if I (we) should hit "block user" from now forward when it is obviously a malicious comment or just continue to let anyone post anything that they wish.
From my perspective, Youtube is like New York, loud, bustling, and aggressive while Livevideo is like a small New England town, much more laid back and friendly. I enjoy visiting New York time and again, but I wouldn't want to live there. less | |

I wanted to capture how fast the time goes by when a loved one comes to visit. My mother came in for 6 weeks from Israel. I let the camera roll, as usual, more...while I took her to the airport. Because footage of driving tends to be boring, I sped it up a bit and added bits of footage that I took during my mothers stay in Florida. less

A cop was coming up behind me with his lights on and he got stuck behind traffic right away at first so I started easing up on the throttle 'cause I didn't more...think he was going to get a crush on me. As soon as traffic broke, he hauled ass after me. That's right at the end when I started faking my lane intentions. As soon as he got stuck left, I split us with the bridge. If you watch the speedo, you can see me decelerate from 145mph in just a few seconds while I get ready to "disappear" ... just in case there was anyone nearby on the other end of the radio. less

While going through some old unmarked VHS tapes, I found this salvagable clip taken back in our skydiving days. This is some old footage of Dave and myself more...from around 1993 or 94. We never gave much thought to video cameras back then and to make matters worse, most of the small amount of footage that we did shoot, I taped TV shows over. Sorry for such a small clip, this is all that I could find so far and it is surrounded by old TV shows. less

This video means a lot to me for several reasons. First, and most obvious, the backdrop is the site of the 9-11 terrorist attacks against the United States more...as well as against the ideals of freedom. Second, I hold family and friends in the highest regards and this flight to New York was one of the few instances where I found myself with both my sister Ruthie and one of my best friends since high school, Dave the pilot/instructor, both of whom I rarely get the chance to spend any time with. Third, and least obvious, as a videomaker, it was important for me to do something special with this rather ordinary footage. I attempted to capture the feeling of loss as we flew over "ground zero" and at the same time, capture the beauty of flight, the beauty of my sister, and the general feeling of timelessness one experiences while in flight.
Mom does not like the idea of Ruthie flying with us in "dangerous" airplanes so we had to sneak her with us to New York. less
