I just went back home for my cousin Giani's funeral. Here's my family in the kitchen...

Brimstone Ghetto-original spoken word poetry

Verse 1

The dark of the night is when I fear what I hear
The mental strangers causin danger
resultin in tears.
I take a step up
To witness the lay out
While others   more...are searchin
for a way out
I search for another route
no one said life was easy
and every plan would please me
Allah's Blessin and Mercy
Yet I gotta keep clean
Cause the devil resides in the
saratul mustaqeem
So neighboring is hard laborin
these days
Cause my neighbors don't give a damn
about wicked ways
So can I,
trust a' walk down the street where
I might be taken under
This is the place where garbage is laid
But if you keep a straight mind
this is the place where the diamonds are made
straight fades, afro-puffs, and bald headz
forty-oz's, crack, herb, and brothers dead
I'm wondering if its mortal men that cause sin
conditions that I am living in.
Sounds of warning all around, birds chirping
A new day arrives with my hard work in
Hear me now,
understand me a little later
A black scientist constructing grenades
so does mischief lay in the land because of man
I keep an eye on whose trying to get a tan
Image of deception is real, and pennies
add up to hundred dollar bills
so every man has got worth Yeah!
but still my presence ain't requested on the earth
so I speak from my heart through the microphone a prisoner and
my cell is made of brimstone.

My flow is '97
to teach you truth about the crucifix
but in the ghetto its '96
here's my evidence
Shatan is up to his devilish tricks
to keep and maintain the 85 in the mix
so if you blind, deaf, dumb, no eyes, no ears, no mind
without knowledge of self how you flex yo dime
You can't hear the righteous call of nature
because you make good out of a devil that hates you
which makes you blind and fail to realize
the clock is ticking its 11:55 time to think divine
open your eyes so U can see
the images of deception trick the minds of you and me
If lifes a book were down to the last pages
they throw us in the ghetto with psychological cages
here were deprived of everything but hard times
they only school you know iz hard knocks
best subject committing crime
no recess just rough learning
broken down building in a blaze just burning
trapped up, wrapped up,
now your homes lost
trash filled the streets
where you can't pay the cost
gun shot sounds rain through the night when u sleep
a minute to pray
and what you sow is what you reap
I stand tall and be the man that I gotta be
so my dreams reach higher then
living in poverty
with this in mind I'll never let go
I know the fire will cease
in the Brimstone Ghetto!

then try to destroy it,
get so jealous
a commandment is made
not to worship another
and finally   more...promise undying love
only to damn us to Hell
if the feeling isn’t mutual

- much like I endured
when my better half
threw me out for good.

God is a woman.

Don’t take it on faith.
Take it from me.
