It is classified as an "inorganic macro-mineral".t has only one stable isotope, 23Na. Sodium was first isolated by Sir Humphry Davy in 1807 by passing an electric current through molten sodium hydroxide.Sodium quickly oxidizes in air so it must be stored in an inert environment such as kerosene.Sodium is present in great quantities in the Earth's oceans as sodium chloride. It is also a component of many minerals, and it is an essential element for animal life. This video shows what happens if you place a piece of sodium in water. It does not react as quickly as potassium or lithium. The reaction is slower, initially causing it to burn and as the temperature rises, it is probably broken into more pieces, exposing more surface area to water, the reactions speed up and the piece explodes.---

Meanwhile, a diet rich in fruits more...and vegetables, the so-called "Prudent" diet, is tied a low risk of heart attack, according to the study, published in the Oct. 21 issue of Circulation. The research, which looked at dietary habits in 52 countries, found people who ate a Western diet had a 35 percent greater risk of having a heart attack compared to those who ate little or no fried foods and meat. Those who followed a "Prudent" diet had a 30 percent lower risk of heart attack compared to those who went light on fruits and vegetables. The authors also looked at an "Oriental" diet, rich in tofu, soy and other sauces, and found it did not increase or decrease the risk of a heart attack. Previous studies have reached similar conclusions about the "Prudent" and Western diet in the United States and Europe, but did not include the Oriental pattern of eating. While some components of the Oriental diet may protect against heart trouble, the higher sodium content of sauces counter that benefit. "This study indicates that the same relationships that are observed in Western countries exist in different regions of the world," study senior author Salim Yusuf, a professor of medicine at McMaster University and director of the Population Health Research Institute at Hamilton Health Sciences in Ontario, said in an American Heart Association news release. The Canadian researchers analyzed risk factors in food choices and the risk of heart attack in about 16,000 people in 52 countries. Almost 6,000 people had heart attacks, while the rest had no known heart disease. less Tags: employmentcrossingcom western diet heart attack prudent diet circulation oriental diet soy sauce sodium salim yusuf american heart association Category: News Views: 7 Comments: 0 Added: Oct 24, 08 By: teenagercros | | | | | Western Diet Boosts Global Heart Attack Risk 30% 04:07The fried foods, salty snacks and meats that are staples of the Western diet account for about 30 percent of heart attack risk across the world, a new report suggests. This chapter focuses on the role and the use of the sciences in supporting the prudent management of the environment and development for the daily survival and future development of humanity. The programme areas proposed herein are intended to be over-arching, in order to support the specific scientific requirements identified in the other Agenda 21 chapters. One role of the sciences should be to provide information to better enable formulation and selection of environment and development policies in the decision-making process. In order to fulfill this requirement, it will be essential to enhance scientific understanding, improve long-term scientific assessments, strengthen scientific capacities in all countries and ensure that the sciences are responsive to emerging needs.
35.2. Scientists are improving their understanding in areas such as climatic change, growth in rates of resource consumption, demographic trends, and environmental degradation. Changes in those and other areas need to be taken into account in working out long-term strategies for development. A first step towards improving the scientific basis for these strategies is a better understanding of land, oceans, atmosphere and their interlocking water, nutrient and biogeochemical cycles and energy flows which all form part of the Earth system. This is essential if a more accurate estimate is to be provided of the carrying capacity of the planet Earth and of its resilience under the many stresses placed upon it by human activities. The sciences can provide this understanding through increased research into the underlying ecological processes and through the application of modern, effective and efficient tools that are now available, such as remote-sensing devices, robotic monitoring instruments and computing and modelling capabilities. The sciences are playing an important role in linking the fundamental significance of the Earth system as life support to appropriate strategies for development which build on its continued functioning. The sciences should continue to play an increasing role in providing for an improvement in the efficiency of resource utilization and in finding new development practices, resources, and alternatives. There is a need for the sciences constantly to reassess and promote less intensive trends in resource utilization, including less intensive utilization of energy in industry, agriculture, and transportation. Thus, the sciences are increasingly being understood as an essential component in the search for feasible pathways towards sustainable development.
35.3. Scientific knowledge should be applied to articulate and support the goals of sustainable development, through scientific assessments of current conditions and future prospects for the Earth system. Such assessments, based on existing and emerging innovations within the sciences, should be used in the decision-making process and in the interactive processes between the sciences and,, see link above; Human Health Hazards Recognized: Health Hazard Reference(s) Suspected: Cardiovascular or Blood Toxicant RTECS Developmental Toxicant JANK Gastrointestinal or Liver Toxicant RTECS Musculoskeletal Toxicant ATSDR RTECS Neurotoxicant RTECS Respiratory Toxicant RTECS Skin or Sense Organ Toxicant less Tags: sodium fluoride aspartame agenda 21 esoteric conspiracy new world order nwo alex jones rclark23 health hazard esoteric agenda rumsfield cfr un sustainable development gmo Category: News Views: 989 Comments: 7 Added: Jul 9, 08 By: rclark23 | | | | | Drinking Water Video by Aquacheck Laboratory Inc. 04:17Drinking Water Video series demontrating correct technique for taking water samples.
