Upon farther research I believe that I have made a mistake. The two animals that pulled the ark were heifers whose new born young were "shut up" in a barn. This may have been a ritual   more...against pestilence being preformed by the religious leaders of the Sea Peoples. Here is a Hittite Ritual against Pestilence thought to be brought on by an enemy god.
