«Nessun dorma» sonó en el Palacio de Buckingham
El mundo entero lloró ayer la muerte de Pavarotti. En Londres, la banda que toca durante el cambio de guardia en el Palacio de Buckingham interpretó el aria «Nessun dorma», uno de los caballos de batalla del tenor. Mandatarios como George Bush, Nicolas Sarkozy, Vladimir Putin, Gordon Brown y Jose Manuel Durao Barroso tuvieron también un recuerdo para el cantante. Bush se refirió a su talento y a su labor humanitaria, mientras que Putin destacó la pérdida que supone para la cultura mundial. El secretario general de la ONU, Ban Ki Moon, subrayó también su aspecto filantrópico y le definió como «amigo de las Naciones Unidas».
Los teatros de ópera de todo el mundo también expresaron su dolor. La Scala de Milán le rindió homenaje, la Ópera de Viena izó una bandera negra y la Fenice veneciana dejó la suya a media asta, mientras que los responsables del Met de Nueva York se refirieron a él como «el símbolo de la ópera». En el Covent Garden se depositó un ramo de flores delante de un retrato del cantante. En Madrid, el Teatro Real, y tras unas palabras en recuerdo del tenor pronunciadas por el director artístico, Antonio Moral, se le dedicó la función, protagonizada por el Nederlands Dans Theatre.
En otros terrenos, como el del fútbol, al que era muy aficionado Pavarotti, también se le recordará. Mañana, en Milán, antes del encuentro entre las selecciones de Francia e Italia, sonarán varias arias cantadas por el tenor.

My tribute to Luciano Pavarotti. I had made this video shortly after his death, but decided to wait before uploading it, as I wanted time to reflect on his life first.

Luciano Pavarotti was born in Modena,   more...Italy on October 12, 1935 and passed away on September 6, 2007. Luciano Pavarotti became the greatest Opera singer of our time, selling around 100 million records.

Pavarotti gave me a deeper appreciation of music, a gift I will always be grateful for. But such was the life of Pavarotti, a beloved vocal singer who would bring Opera to many-millions of people (both young and old) around the world.

Music is a universal language that transcends boundaries, connects people even thousands of miles apart and Pavarotti is a testament to this truth.

We must never forget, Luciano Pavarotti was also a husband and a father.

For me, there’s nothing more emotionally evocative in music than the soaring vocals of one of the great opera tenors such as Luciano Pavarotti, singing “Rondine Al Nido”, which provides the musical accompaniment   more...for this “Fountains of Bellagio” night presentation in Las Vegas. The vocal presentation is all the more powerful when you understand what the words are saying about the overpowering emptiness and sadness of lost love.
