If we talk about the original statement "I'm black and I'm proud" you do need to listen carefully, and you need to understand that the statement is NOT "I'm proud THAT I'm black", or "I'm proud BECAUSE I'm black".

Yes the phrase is a bit ambiguous, and it could be heard as having the same meaning as the other phrases. But please don't hear it like that. Hear it like "Being black is nothing to be ashamed of. I have as much right to be proud of who I am as any other human being has. Being black is no impediment to being proud. I can be black AND proud at the same time."

And that is how I use it in this context, too, about Atheism. Atheists have as much right to be proud of who they are as any other person. I can be an Atheist, AND I can be proud. And nobody's going to stop me.

If anyone hears this as me saying that Atheists are "better" than other people, they're mistaken. If anyone uses this phrase to SAY that Atheists are better than other people, they're wrong.

You could ask: "why didn't you use something a bit less ambiguous"?

This documentary deserves an award, Oscar, etc. I greatly endorse everyone to watch it with an open mind. Cigarettes kill more people than everything else put together and they are legal, I've yet to hear a single case of someone dying from smoking marijuana, and still it is kept illegal.
