June 15, 2007: The young kestrels are flying, and Mom is teaching them to hunt. She will bring them food until they can hunt on their own. The youngsters spend less time at the nest box, but still   more...visit. Sometimes they like to spend the night there.  less

Unfortunately, because there is a "baby" in the nest and a lot of road traffic, including a whole lot of ATVs going up and down the road, the adult was being very cautious and keeping a low   more...profile. I saw the baby briefly several times but not when I had the camera ready to shoot.  less

I discovered this Osprey nest last summer, located at a lock on the Rideau Canal (I won't say which one). I will be visiting it fairly regularly over the summer to keep you updated on the progress of   more...any young.  less

I got this emailed to me from a friend, I copied it and slowed it down alot so maybe we could see what the other eagle was stealing from the nest as the mother was very upset.

McMurphy thinks he can get out of doing work while in prison by pretending to be mad. His plan backfires when he is sent to a mental asylum. A pair of geese really close up. It's spring and they've got their eggs out.

The first weekend in April and two of three nests are occupied and a third is being scoped out. There are two new nests which I hadn't followed last year (in this video) and those are occupied. Both had   more...one mate on the nest and I could hear the other calling at the second nest.

I think both the ones on the nests were females. The male has a fairly prominent brown "ascot" on it's upper chest.

The third nest, the one which I have followed the last couple of years, didn't have a mate on the nest but some people have seen one on a tree near the nest.

There are two other nests. One I showed last year has a very deep bowl and while it didn't appear occupied, even last year when it was, it was difficult to see anything but the head of one of the parents. The last is so close to the road and either the box was only recently erected (I only spotted it at the end of last season) or no mating pairs have been interested in it. There is very little nesting material in the nest.  less
