My father, Nick Stewart, was a veteran actor who played the   more...part of Lightnin' on the Amos 'n' Andy Television show and who created the voice of Brer Bear in Walt Disney's Song of the South. His voice is on Disneyland's Splash Mountain ride. He and my mother, Edna Stewart, founded the historic Ebony Showcase Theatre in 1950. The theater's buildings were demolished without a demolition permit by the Los Angeles Community Redevelopment Agency. The theater lives on in the internet while I raise money to move into another theater.  less

A long debate ended early Tuesday morning when Gainesville City Commissioners voted to pass an Anti- Discrimination Ordinance for transgendered people...


Commissioners voted four to three.

The ordinance   more...is mostly addressing housing and employment discrimination, but the part of the ordinance that created much controversy; allowing transgender people to use whichever restroom they wanted in public settings.

Now business owners are left with a lot of questions that really are not being answered.
