Natalie is one of the cats we rescued from a hoarder situation in Baton Rouge, La. She was never happy inside and she had such an attitude inside that we deemed her unadoptable. Our newest Cat Ranch resident is a Hedgehog named Kain. She is nocturnal. I took this video around 1:00AM by flashlight. One of the cats jumps up and looks at the hedgehog while I am recording. You can   more...also hear Gracie our Rat running in her wheel.  less

Victor, one of our adoptable foster cats, loves to sit in the window and look outside. He spent a lot of time watching the rain today.

Mandy, one of our foster kittens, is very friendly with just about any kind of animal. She loves rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and ferrets. MY LITTLE CAT

We have a waiting list of people wanting to adopt a rescued Guinea Pig. I told the local animal control that I wanted them to let me know the next time they had a Guinea Pig surrendered. On Friday, March   more...28, 2008 I got a phone call to come and get 24 Guinea Pigs that someone was at the pound surrendering. I told her I did not think I had enough cages. But, that I would look and see what I had before I went. They called back a few minutes later and said that someone took 5, so there was only 19 left. After setting up cages, we went and picked them up. This photo was taken when we were loaded up and ready to leave animal control. When we got home we counted them, and found we had 23 Guinea Pigs, as a litter had been born while in the pound. They will all be available for adoption soon.  less

We rescued this beautiful Chocolate and White Abyssinian Guinea Pig from Roicy Duhon Animal Control (Lafayette Animal Control), along with 22 other guinea pigs. She, and several other piggies, were already   more...pregnant when we saved them from certain death. She gave birth to four babies on April 8, 2008. As you can see in this video, the babies want to stay as close to Mom as possible. They follow her everywhere. Once weaned, they will be available for adoption through the Acadiana Humane Society and Cat Ranch.  less

This is Daisy. A friend rescued her from Lafayette Animal Control.and called us to see if we could take care of her and find her a home. I was holding her today, when I noticed she makes a lot of noise   more...when I pet her across her left side. When I pet her along the back of her head and neck, she is quiet. But, when I touch the area where I point to near the end of this video, she always makes noise. I'm wondering if there is something wrong with her.  less

Our hurricane proof cat shelter foundation is now dry! Next step is removing the wood frame. Then, once that is done we can put up the outside walls and roof!

The concrete for the foundation for our new Hurricane Proof Cat Shelter was poured today!
