On Saturday 16th May 2009, Ed & I travelled from Manchester to Newcastle by car, and in doing so we went across the highest Motorway in England. M62 is the highest motorway in the UK, reaching 1220   more...feet (372m) where it crosses Saddleworth Moor.  less

These are just normal people who are concerned enough to make a stand against the illegal work, oozing corruption and bigoted ignorance intent on driving a motorway on a highly impractical route through one of the most archaeologically, historically, symbolically and spiritually charged landscapes in Europe, if not the world. There is an alternative route that makes much more sense from an ecological, engineering archaeological and financial perspective. However, Irish polititions being the brown envelope loving breed that they are so infamous for being, this route has been completely ignored, sidestepped and brushed under the carpet by the so-called 'powers that be'.  less

Around two roundabouts and down the slip-road and onto the M5 at Junction 12, going south. The speed limit on UK motorways is 70mph, but white vans often do well over eighty.

Watching myself sped up makes me realise how much I check my mirrors, I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing to be honest.. but anywho, this is the gritty grey crap of new zealand called the   more...Auckland Motorway :P I hope you get sea sick. Love, zeo.  less

The beautiful A28 péage autoroute (freeway) from Le mans to Rouen in France is so new it isn't even shown as so much a dotted line on my 2003 Michelin France Roads Atlas. Here's a 25 mile stretch   more...of it, speeded up to about 350mph. In all that way, there were only 8 other cars (and four of them were British registered), one truck and one lorry. The speed limit is 130kph (81mph) but it was hard to keep below the mid eighties, and the silver car that passed me towards the end was doing well over 100. Sorry but this is one I just had to speed up. Keep the sound up loud!  less
