It isn't possible to sum up several hundred years of history, as well as the history of land dispute. I have given a VERY brief description of what was known as "The Oka Crisis", a dispute over   more...land between local non-Natives and the Mohawks at Oka which was televised daily into homes across Canada and brought support from many and derision from some. The 15-year old daughter of the best man at our wedding was one of the protesters and we watched in horror as she was knocked to the ground, carrying her half-brother. She and others were arrested and eventually released. Canada has moved on, though other disputes have taken the place of the one at Oka.  less
